Personally i will now be waiting to get a Halo Reach bundle with the new console. I gurantee you there will be lot's of people thinking the same. Reach will not boost numbers like Halo 3 did but it will have an effect on people who already own a 360 wanting to upgrade. Reach/Fable or Gears will be the games people will upgrade for.

i did say 7k-10k for the opening week did i? anyone who wants to upgrade will or already will, considering 360 sales i don't think that a lot of people are waiting for halo reach-fable3-gears 3.

Halo: Reach is a new Halo story.  I have a feeling it will have a much larger bump than just some paltry 7-10k.  I know plenty of Halo fans that have yet to buy a 360 for themselves or people who didn't buy Halo 3 or a 360 because they haven't played the first 2 games.  Halo: Reach being a new storyline completely relieves those issues.

It's sad to see Wii momentum down and 360 momentum up...

Outside of that, nothing new. PSP under 15k, DS over 100k, PS3 over 50k etc.

how is it sad? the 360 has much better games this year, rdr - crackdown 2 are so fun to play, please explain how it is   sad?

I'm waiting myself to see if they release a Reach Edition 360S. If not then I'll upgrade to an Elite 360S.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Because his favourite console is losing momentum and the console he does not like is gaining it. There is nothing wrong with that.

Wow, this makes me wonder how 360 would be doing if the new model was the model that originally came out at launch.. Though very little software increase tells me that it is mostly existing 360 users who are upgrading. As is the case for me and a few friends I know who have 360s. Sales should start to fall soon to more normal levels, but they have solidified 2nd place with this slim model.

Strange (and sad) for me to see the Wii in 2nd, but then again it is the only console without a redesign, and has had only one price drop and one additional bundle this entire gen. If Nintendo can stick this one out and remain in first, after all the madness that Sony and MS have thrown their way this gen, I will be quite impressed. The final *major* obstacles for Wii are Halo Reach, GT5, and Kinect (I don't really consider Move a threat). If Wii can maintain its weekly lead after all the dust settles with those, it will be in the clear. The holiday season is when Nintendo should make up for any lackluster sales going on now. DKC will be like Nintendo's slim. I think over 50% marketshare is out of the question now (barring another Wii Fit type phenomenon), but Wii should still be able to remain in first and possibly even put some more distance between them and their competitiors.

PS3 is officially stuck in 3rd place, as MS has shown that their slim has countered the PS3 slim and then some. Not to mention it already has a 5 million lead on it, which will be nearly impossible to overcome this late in the gen, when 360 is still going strongly. PS3 has little coming up GAME WISE that will significantly move hardware besides GT5 and FFXIV, the latter of which is a long ways off.

I own both a 360 and Wii and to say that the 360 has 'much better games' is subjective.  I'm getting quite a bit of time out of my 2010 Wii titles.

That beside, I find it sad because while the new Slim model of the 360 can shred dics's and still has overheating problems, it is going to sell in the hundreds of thousands in a month's time.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I personally don't want to see 360 ahead of Wii because of the RROD. No console that breaks on the user 33% of the time should be rewarded. Though the new slim model does seem to remedy this finally..

Also, I thought I heard Crackdown 2 was pretty mediocre? It's been getting 6s and 7s across the board. RDR seems like a neat game, but not for everyone, and it has its issues I hear.

For me at least, Wii has had much more games I've wanted to play this year. Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Endless Ocean 2, Red Steel 2, Fragile, Sin and Punishment 2, etc. The only games I've really played on 360 this year are Shadow Complex and Assassin's Creed 2, both of which have been out for quite some time. Looking ahead, Dead Rising 2 and Fallout New Vegas are the only games that interest me for the rest of the year.Though my favorite game of this gen, Gears 2, is on 360 so it has that going for it...

I'll never understand why people buy a console if they already have one that works perfectly.

rubbish. stop trolling.

link for the overheating PROBLEMS please.

the scratch disc thing was because some half wit journo moved the console around while it was spinning a disc... which you are clearly told not to do.

Mine has hardly ben off in the time I have had it... doesnt even get warm

the 360s is the quietest (by a mile) and coolest console I own... I own all 3.

This.

My standard response to this is you do know it is black and shiny right?
