I finished and it wasn't bad, I just still don't think it was worth $15.  It seems like the developers thought it was 2004 and we still crap our pants about physics puzzles.  It's like if someone released a new version of a Wiimote and thinks we should all flip out about that...

Anyways, quick thoughts:

The Goods

  • short enough it doesn't wear out its welcome
  • some clever puzzles, mainly towards the end
  • Great art style and immersion

The Bads

  • puzzles are all pretty straightforward and not a lot of thought
  • The good puzzles don't come until the last 1/3 of the game, or hour
  • The game is waaaaaaaay overpriced
  • short, single play through game

After finishing it, I'd still say wait on this game until it gets a price reduction.  It's a good game, it's just it takes no time at all to finish, there's pretty much no replayability, and it's expensive.  When it gets closer to $5 it would be a definite buy without a doubt worth it, until then, pass unless you're hankering for some Half-Life 2-esque physics puzzles.

Factoring in the price, I'd give it a 7.0.

I still think you're exaggerating about the price. If you got three hours out of it, that's the equivalent of paying full price for a twelve hour retail game. That being said, I got more than three hours of it and will play through it again at some point (nevermind find the achievements). Bring on Hydro Thunder.

I don't really count it like something as every hour should be worth roughly $5, that's stupid.  I don't mind paying $15 for a 3-4 hour game but that better be a damn good 3-4 hour game.  Similarly, if I'm paying $60 for an 8 hour single player single playthrough game, that better a pretty good 8 hours.

With Limbo, I just didn't get my moneys worth.

  • The twist is the game title
  • It's incredibly short
  • It's expensive
  • It acts as though we've never seen physics puzzles before.

Plus, that game had a 25 person team!  That' insane for that game!  With that many people working on it's not a wonder that it costs as much as it does, but you have to wonder why it's so short and what all those people were doing.  The game wasn't that complicated and most of the people were programmers!



On a slightly unrelated note, what in the world is the animal thing they give you as an Avatar award? I don't remember seeing anything like that in the game.

I'm pretty sure that the creature is the thing that acted like a hamster when you chased it onto a big wheel early in the game. It was real small in the game though. 



I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I downloaded last night and it's pretty damned good.  Creepy atmosphere, too.  I think I'm going to rip my Silent Hill 3 soundtrack to the 360 and let that music play as the background. It should fit really well.  Creepy spiders, psycho children, mind altering parasites (I hate those motherfuckers), and some brain bending puzzles --I'm loving this game!
