Hmm ok so a console that has graphics on par with first generation xbox and that might be considered good for the years 2001-2002 is going to be "industry standard" for years to come? well god save us all is all I can say. Ever heard of HDMI, blue ray, HD-DVD? Forgive me for not being a Wii-fanboy, I really like playing that console with friends but there is nothing industry standard setting without the motion sensing technology it uses and the fact that it is attracting the casual crowd. But of course if the emphasis is to be only on party games and standing up swinging our arms then it sure is the most innovative product of all time.

Technology wise, I doubt the wii will be the industry standard. Control wise I hope it will be.

Indeed if there was a console with the PS3 technology and the Wii controls but still with games that have enough depth to be interesting for more than 5 minutes I would by it in an instant , in other words if there was a way of combining the best features from all 3 consoles (ps3=tech, Wii=controls, 360=games) then there would be no question as to where my money would go, sadly it's a bit too expensive for me to buy all three at the moment at least. Perhaps next generation.

Oh no, the "Wii only has party games" argument again?

Wii sales wills slump a good while after SSBB, until ND makes its next marketing push whether it be, New Products or Price cuts.

BINGO!

Bets:Missed by 420k I bet leo-j vg$500 that wii will sell 31 million by 7/31/08.  Sorry, I don't think he has enough vg$ to make it with all of u that wish you could. Hit, with room to spare I bet kingofwale a 1-week ban that wii Americas ltd sales>360 Americas ltd sales as of the numbers for week ending 7/05/08 (using vgchartz homepage #s)

Predictions:

Wii will sell 18-20mil by 12/31/07  CHECKWii will sell 45mil+ WW by 12/31/08Wii will surpass PS2 sales WW by 11/17/11 (5yr anniversary)Wii Fit will hit 12mil sales in 2009MKWii+SSBB+Wii Fit+SMG > 50 mil sales by 2010 > gta4+mgs+gt5+ff13+haze+lbp

you are igorant

wii selling out = sales slump

plus the wii manufactes more than the 360 and PS3

so how does this work

Yeah, this was all fine and great last year. It has been exciting watching the Wii remain sold out for the entire first year, but Nintendo had a whole year to make sure that there were more Wiis for this holiday. This should not be near as bad as it is right now. This was the Christmas for Wii to completely take over and obliterate the competition, but Nintendo has shot itself in the foot by being unprepared.

There will probably be enough supply to outsell both the 360 and the PS3. Seriously, what more evidence of stockpiling do people want?

1.8 million per month is 413k units per week. Nintendo is selling more than that per week. That must mean they're releasing piled stock.

If this thread turns out to be accurate, there isn't much room for doubt. It would be two weeks in a row of sales much higher than 413k.

Did shortages really hurt the PS2 and DS? Maybe a little, but in the long run it sure is hard to see.

I know the PS2 didn't have shortages this bad or this prolonged.  What about the DS?  I remember sporatic shortages, but were they this severe or this long?

Griffin- although a good piont we are looking at this too linearly. For those Wiis to not be there when you get there, means that someone has bought them. And for them to be like that everywhere then it has to be bought. Then simply all you have to do is deduce however many Nintendo ships this holiday season will be how many sold, with a tolerance of 500k.

Unluckily it does make sense in theory that they'd get tired of waiting, brandnames in the markets hardly ever work like that. People by for brand and whats mainstream, meaning they'll hold out for the Wii over anything else. ONly way that can change is if their is a brandname shift, which while looking at has hardly happened. NOw some of this spill over to other consoles could happen with the hardcore gaming crowd, but I think its important to note that hardcore gamersr are not only a minority in sales, but even more of a minority in holiday times as the majority of buyers for the console in holidays is the mainstream.

Must we be made subject to these recycled anti-Wii arguments every holiday season when the Wii really shows us just how bright it can shine?

There is no harm what-so-ever in begging the question of such issues regarding the Wii's sales, but just throwing debunked Fudd theories out there is little more than flamebaiting.

yeah sure fuckerz your mom is gonna slump on me tonight woo woo
