Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Goldeneye vs Black Ops

I might choose conduit 2 just to help ensure The Grinder is as quality as possible.

Around the Network

Well, I'm only going to buy one FPS this holiday season.

GoldenEye:

Yay!

  • Nostalgic Factor
  • 4 Player Split Screen!!!
  • Sticky Bombs!

Nay!

  • Graphics seem underwhelming
  • Seems to be more of a reimaging than a brand new game

Conduit 2:

Yay!

  • HVS seems to have this great attitude towards their games that's just infectious. They're always striving to improve their game, unless its Tournament of Legends.
  • 4 player Split Screen!!!
  • Looks great, and with the right customization, plays great.

Nay!

  • The first one looked alright and played great, but it just didn't have that spark. Can the second one actually have heart?

Black Ops:

Yay!

  • WaW and Reflex were both solid Wii shooters. This one will be as well.

Nay!

  • But I've played WaW and Reflex, so I've been there and done that...
  • 4 player Split Screen?! This is the deal maker/breaker. Can anyone confirm is it has it or not?

Black Ops (Wii version, of course) will outsell both Goldeneye and Conduit 2, but in terms of quality, I think all of them have a fair shot at coming out on top. The Goldeneye developers look like they're actually taking their job seriously, we've already seen some of the improvements in Conduit 2, and Treyarch have already proven themselves to be quite skilled when it comes to making shooters on Wii.

I'll be renting all three games through GameFly anyway, so I suppose no matter who wins, I win anyway. :P

Blackeyed peaOps and Goldenseye are mine day 1.

Its gonna be a crowded fall line up......decisions, decisions, decisions.

The first has pretty poor reviews. The second is being developed by the same studio. Are their many games this gen in which the first interation has scored in the 60 bracket for the sequel to then reach into the 80's? (perhaps even 90's if Black Ops scores well.)

It's a steep mountain to climb. If I were a betting man, my money would surely be on Black Ops.

Red Steel = 63, Red Steel 2 = 80

i'd say Conduit 2 has a good chance of doing something similar. High Voltage are going at Conduit 2 in a similar fashion to what Ubisoft did with Red Steel 2. Improvements are being made to almost every aspect. Graphics have been overhauled so environments are no longer dull and even contain new effects, the storytelling is going to be more cinematic, more multiplayer modes and the online fixed. heck even the shining point of the first game (controls) are being improved.

however having said that, i think Black Ops will score better. Treyarch are doing marvelous work on the Wii. the CoD blockbuster movie style appeals more to the people who review these games. even though MWR scored less than WaW, i believe tha Black Ops will do better than both.  it's improved everything from those games and is releasing at the same time as the HD versions. that means reviewers 'Wii is crap' shades won't be as thick as they were when reviewing MWR.

i wouldn't doubt GoldenEye getting a decent score either. Eurocom did a great job with Nightfire. and with their last Wii game (Dead Space Extraction) being so good, i'd say they're likely to pull it off. people will probably moan on about how 'it's not the same as those days when i was confused about my weiner' but i think there will be more who will appreciate it.

i think the sales order will be:

Call of Duty: Black Ops > GoldenEye 007 > Conduit 2

with GoldenEye & Conduit 2 getting a slightly lower score than Black Ops

Battlefield 3.

The amount of time Black Ops has been in dev, you can guarantee with no public beta there will be just as many if not more bugs, glitches, exploits and hacks as Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer.

More or less the same with Goldeneye.

sales:

black ops >>>>>>>>>>> goldeneye

quality:

black ops >>>>>>>>>>>>>> goldeneye

Black Ops will sell the most for sure but Goldeneye will be the better game.

Lol, what alot of people that are saying that (far and few in between) fail to realize this is just the original Goldeneye with better graphics and a tiny addition here and there. Goldeneye feeds on the nostalgia of the gamer more than anything, especially with the 4 player split-screen. Don't get me wrong, I slept over my cousin's house just to play this game and get drunk years ago (also perfect dark) and it was all sorts of party and fun. I am not a fan of call of duty games so much but I've played them enough on PC and consoles (I enjoyed the simplicity yet pwnage that was Counter-strike more) to know that the multiplayer can be very engaging despite the MW2 glitches (I do prefer MW1). So unless you have a really solid argument the whole Goldeneye>Black Ops has no merit whereas Black Ops>Goldeneye has in its favor the fact that COD has been a long standing franchise with a well proven formula and has innovated bringing fun and improvements throughout the series.

P.S. I am more of a KZ2 fan but I give credit where credit is due, and yes I wish KZ2 had 4 player multiplayer split-screen, but oh well, at least the online community is robust and it's loads of fun with no glitches that i've seen at all.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

I get the feeling Activision is pushing GoldenEye more then Black Ops on the Wii. More information, images, footage, and interviews have been released regarding the game. All attention on Black Ops has been on the PS3/360 versions.  I think GoldenEye is going to surprise as long as Activision doesn't act stupid when it comes to advertising the game.

I plan on picking up both GoldenEye and Conduit 2. More a fan of the secret agent setup then the military squad that Call of Duty has. Not to say Black Ops won't be good because I don't doubt it will be. Treyarch are very good and I have faith in them after World at War and Modern Warfare Reflex.  GoldenEye just grabs me more due to memories of the original and from what I've seen of this new version.

Also GoldenEye is not the original game. It's a complete reworking. It's a new game based a updated versison of the script that features the current Bond. It's not a remake of the original game but with better graphics. I don't know how many times this has to be said by the publishers. Just looking at the game you can tell it's more then tiny additions here and there.

goldeye eye will fail compared to black ops.
