Blue Ray's slow take up is also due to the lack of HD TV's in people's homes.
Now HDTV's are becoming more common place Blu-ray has started to pick up.
The prolem is it happens to be at the same time that downloading HD content is being pushed also.
During DVD's boom there was no alternative.
It is actually easier for me to watch an HD download movie than a Blu-Ray disc in my house hold via xbox live. In a family house hold it means: No disc in the wrong case, no scratched discs, no searching through stacks of Cases to find the one you want, no storage. cupboard.
Blu-Ray wont boom like DVD did as it has competition. It's as simple as that. DVD had the playing field to itself.
Blu-ray is sharing it with DVD (The Cheaper/less quality little brother) On demand via box under tv (XBox, PS3, Sky, Virgin), donwloads on your computer and i'm sure theres a few more.
