Super Mario Galaxy 2? There still a lot of unexplored new idea that can be done with the planetary and gravity.

Thats was my thinking too, use the same engine and such which would cut dev time a heap. Then give us galaxy 2 and then 3 on the wii, if they are equal to the original, I will be stoked.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

maybe a luigi game that is similar to mario64 or galaxy

Maybe they'll utilize something that exploits an even more immersive user interface?

Well, Galaxy has been raleased a few weeks ago, and, unlike Sunshine, had been praised by critics & players alike. So what's next for the italian plumber in platforming? It's going to be hard to top Galaxy...

Incorrect, Sunshine was praised by many!

So 92% is not high enough to be a praised game by critics? Come on... Maybe you didn't like it, because you probably weren't very good at it. Once you actually get good at Super Mario Sunshine, than you will like it. If Super Mario Sunshine's 92% average, on pretty much, all of those websites, is not considered a success, than every other game, with the same score, or lower, would also not be considered a success, which includes Final Fantasy 7, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario RPG, Secret of Mana, Star Fox 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Crash Bandicoot 3, Jak & Daxter, Kingdom Hearts, and many more. Nope, sorry, 92% is just too high. By fact, it was "officially" praised by critics, and players alike. I am really getting tired of the game, being called a failure, just because it was not as good as Super Mario 64, and Super Mario Galaxy. It still remains the third, greatest 3D platformer of all time, and that's what everyone seems to miss. It is definitely a masterpiece.

This is totally off subject, and I'm sure most posters here were born after the release of the Game Boy, but this reminds me of grade school.  The Game Boy was still new and not everyone had one, so at lunch and on library breaks we would make "paper Game Boys" and draw in games.  One person would draw it in, and one person would "play".  Anybody? ... no? ... damn.

Yeah I agree with all the ones who say the next Mario will be a direct sequel to Galaxy. The space setting is awesome and there's alot of potential for new ideas to make a threequel. I predict SMG2 will have co-op with Luigi and in SMG3 Yoshi will join the party.

We will see something completely different on the next Nintendo console, but as far as the Wii is concerned Mario will stay in space.

From the recent interview on IGN it sounds like Iwata is pushing for another Mario platformer before the end of the generation. It also sounds like it could be another Galaxy-esque game with spherical planets.
