I love the Metroid Series, for all the elements it has

I think the control mechanic is serviceable. it may not be the best possible solution, but I also think its simplicity will enable the game to focus more on variable enemies than metroid has before.

@KylieDog As a Resident evil fan myself I dont give f***  about people sayin games are outdated but if I'd care I wouldnt have RE5 avatar cuz as 3rd person shooter RE5 feels pretty much outdated.

There flaw here is that RE5 is an action game, not a third person shooter.

well thats what you say but when about everythin u do in a game is shootin in third person, I call that a third person shooter.BTW a TPS is an Action Game and RE5 is still outdated as an Action game or as a TPS.

Is there something wrong with that? Not for me but its you that seems to be sayin that if you think something is outdated is not good.(well as a RE title there was something wrong with RE5 but thats out of topic)

And cutscenes have nothing to do with gameplay which is whats most important in a game.RE2 may seems outdated for u but among Resident evil fan its one of the best and 10 times better than RE5,just like sprites may be outdated but among fighting fans Blazblue is far better than SF4.

The most important in a game is the Appeal of the game: is what get you to buy it

and once u got it then is the Gameplay : does it feels fun or good when you play it.

To change the course of the thread a bit, i'll bring up a point that TwistedCellz and i have discussed recently, saying that: where the hell is the hype for this? It got a little trailer at E3, the same demo they showed 4 months prior, and Nintendo hasn't really been pitching it to the major media outlets for any sort of review. Even that stuff that CVG was trying to show a few weeks back (before they decided to give up halfway through and delete their trail in the process), was entirely out of the E3 demo.

By comparison, we knew much much more about what Galaxy 2 or NSMBWii would entail by this point in their lifecycles, and certainly far more about what Metroid Prime 3 would be like (though Nintendo treated pre-launch hype differently in those days, so Galaxy 2 and NSMBWii are the better comparisons)

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nothing new really. Metroid never really was "all that" outside of message boards and the "hardcore" gamers. Remember when they released that channel on the Wii Shop Channel that was supposed to advertise Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? I doubt it did anything to help sell more copies of that game to newcomers. So my point is, no matter what Nintendo does to advertise a Metroid game to the world, it won't achieve high sales. Metroid lives by word of mouth. Also... maybe by fan service nowadays it seems.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Corruption certainly had botched marketing, but we at least knew stuff about the game, about what it was going to be like. Aside from the control scheme and only the tiniest fringe of story, we know jack-all about this game. How many major bosses are there, what's the format for adding weapons, what kind of armors are going to be here, how has missile/energy pickups changed, if at all?

It's not even an issue of marketing, but at least of making details of the game known.

Oh, I see. I just noticed the  "where the hell is the hype for this" part of your post.

Well I guess it's typical Nintendo. A Mario platformer game doesn't need any introduction, you press one button to jump and that's about all you need to know. For their other games, well they like to keep secrets (Twilight Princess comes to mind. What, they only had that E3 trailer!). Reminds me of FFXIII. Squeenix only showed that same part over and over in all the trailers until a week before the Japanese launch trailer...

In a way, I like it better when I'm not spoiled much. Especially with how easy it is to communicate and share things on the Internet nowadays...

The problem is that just like u said,a Mario platformer needs no introduction but this new Metroid needs it bcuz theres alot people that might be interested about it if they knew more about it.

Look at what Sony did with God of War 3 and Uncharted 2,they hyped those games like crazy and it was good cuz about everybody with ps3 knows about those games, fans or not.But with Metroid, theres only us and I know this game got already some non-fans interested but they wont buy it if they dont hear more about it.

Nintendo got all this money but is like they scared to bring games that have little casual appeal.I bet DK country is gonna get more hype than that from them and Kirby too.

off topic

I just realise thats probably the reason they havent made a new Starfox or a new F-Zero,they probably think Kirby and DK can appeal more to the casual than havin a Starfox wii that could still sell at least 2 million easy.

Yeah, I must say Nintendo should market a lot more Metroid if they want it to be successful in the future.

you should make like a hype airship or something for the thread
