Forums - PC Discussion - Planescape Torment, technical Problems with Windows 7 (I think)

Okay, This game is fun, I'm in it about an Hour. However My character only faces left. When He walks to the right, he walks to the right facing left meaning walking backwards.  Whe he fights to the right. he faces left, and throws his hand backwards. And it's irritating to look at. I look at videos on youtube, and this doesn't occur.

I have the 4 CD version. (I bought on Ebay a week ago)
I patched it to 1.11 (the official one I think)
I put the widescreen patch so I could  view it on my TV 1360x768.

My specs
AMD athlon X2 6000 OC to 3.3GHZ
4GB Ram
2 8800GT SLI Cards (I should've turned sli off and tried) but I'm at work and didn't think of it.
Windows 7 profession 32 bit.

Also, I just started using windows 7 as well. I've used windows xp since it came out till a couple months ago, and haven't used that computer much as I use linux.

Thanks.

Edit: Yes I could use wine as I heard it works. But I'd rather do it on the computer attached to my TV, than my laptop :D

I suspect it's an issue with your video card. In general, NVIDIA cards don't have very good compatibility with older games.

When I played Planescape: Torment a couple of years ago, I had to install an older driver for my 8600GT to eliminate graphical glitches and occasional crashes. When I played Shogun: Total War earlier this year, I had to completely remove the 8600GT and use my computer's integrated Intel graphics card to play at all.

Thanks very much. I'll try some troubleshooting with my videocard. Then I'll try it with wine. Then if I absolutely, I'll install windows xp on my laptop.
Thanks again

Before you attempt that, try this  - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

Virtual XP mode in Windows 7 - because the games old now it should run fine on a vm with 1 gig of RAM.

If I remember rightly, I had problems on XP as well. Game used to crash when casting magic and I never got round to looking for a fix. Should really look into that at some point.
