Yeah, I dont have MH3. The Wii tends to Freeze beofre it even loads up the menu. With or withought a game inside. Maybe its just getting old and needs replaced. I have had this since release day. I will try and clean it out. If it still freezes I will just need to pick up a new one. Thanks for all the help. Glad I am not the only person with this issue.

Have you called Nintendo and asked the cost to send in and repair. Its probably less than buying new. Unless you really want a black model. But, then what about any games you downloaded from WW/VC?

i'd say hold off on reformatting until your tried everything else.

Actually it may be overheating... if he uses Wii Connect 24 then it's probably hotter when he turns it on than after a period of use... the fan can cool it down when it's on.
Otherwise yeah try turning it on without a disc in from now on and see if it still happens.

How do you have it positioned? Horizontal or Vertical? I was having problems with mine and started standing it on the side, and it hasn't acted up since.

I called Nintendo and I sent my Wii for repairs on Tuesday. I got a message error and it said I have corrupt data. It costs $85 for repairs. There is a possibility that I could lose all or some of my data. I should get my Wii back in 2-3 weeks.
I know I am late to the party ... but was there a disk in the problem Wii when it was being turned on?
(And I have gotten that data corrupt message on occasion for the better part of two years with no ill effects).

Ok, I have tried all things I can think of. I have tried the Wii standing up and laying down, With and without a disk inside. I have tried to boot regular and it locks up. If I boot in maintenance mode I can get in, but when I try and go to the system menu to format the machine as soon as I click the last button to format it freezes. This leads me to believe there is something wrong with the onboard memory. I am just going to replace this with the black Wii. Thank you for all of your help. I will just chalk this Wii up to dead.
