Forums - Gaming Discussion - 3rd Party Killing the Wii

Anyone who thinks 3rd party ports are killing Wii just need to buy The Godfather (if you really have a wii and say that with justification) and see how a gta-style game can be a hell of a fun on it. I've been playing it the past week.

graphics? ok, they aren't ps3/360 but they don't hurt and when you can headbutt and choke your enemies like in The Godfather you don't spend time counting pixels.

Everyone with a Wii should try this game!

For those of you who say the Wii has sold more 3rd party games total. Yeah it has. But (...) 3rd party wins the war. Sony is doing quite well on 3rd party right now.

just wanted to outline this.

Really. I will have to rent it.

I agree ... I decided to buy it today and can honestly say I enjoy it more than I enjoyed any of the 3D GTA games ...

I'm probably unique in that though because I typically got bored with GTA on a weekend rental ...

Good numbers posted on the last page. Funny how a quick, farmed-out, cash-in, spin-off like Tony Hawk Downhill Jam on Wii can outperform the main series game, Project 8, on PS3.

Madden sales on Wii are catching the PS3 numbers. We'll see how Madden 08 does. And Tiger Woods, of course. Be sure to count Rayman, like Kwaad mentioned.

Also, glad to hear people mention that Wii has a better selection and wider variety of third party games. Confused as to why this is a positive for PS3, though.

When Wii has 10million consoles in america, and PS3 has 6million PS3 will be outselling the Wii in 3rd party numbers.

considering that Wii sales are currently more than double PS3 sales along with the fact that nintendo is upping production... what makes you think that by the time Wii is at 10 million (lets say september) that the PS3 will be at 6 million?

edit- on top of that, the Wii will have more quality 3rd party titles by then as well. Most titles out now were being made when the Wii was assumed to sell as poorly as the GCN, now that they realize the success of the wii more time and care will go into the games.

He's only referring to NA for one, and two he thinks the Wii will slow down and the PS3 will start outselling it once some good games come out. Previously he also thought March would be where that would start to happen since all the good games would be out by then. You know Motorstorm, Gundam, etc. As we have all seen this did not pan out. So. We will have to wait for the next system saving games launch for PS3, and of course, for the Wii to actually start to decline in demand.

Well we actuly don't have any numbers for any of the consols during this period, so we can't say anything yet. But so far not much seems to happen in the sale front for PS3 but I don't live in USA so I don't really know.

Well, I'm from the US, and I'd say expect more of the same for both. Assuming Wii shipments were as steady as they seemed to be... That'd should put Wii between 300-350K, and PS3 may pick up a bit, but probably not above 175K... Plus Canada, where I believe Wii outdid PS3 30+K to 6K in Feb.
