I'm guessing since they are calling the DS successor 3DS they are wanting to have familiar branding to their follow up consoles. I really can't see it being called Super Wii, and Wii 2 sounds a little boring but maybe. I'm not sure exactly what it will be called, but I don't think it will be the radical name change like Gamecube to Wii was, it will be similar to Wii. Although if somehow against all odds 3DS falls well short of expectations they will likely change the strategy.

But their logic behind the name Wii was that they wanted it to represent people connecting and getting together it's meant to sound like the word 'We' and NES/SNES were called Famicom and Super Famicom in japan as a shortening for Family Computer, so I'm guessing it'll be something along those lines. The Nintendo Unus (source words Unite and us) is my best guess.

There would be endless jokes (even worst than Wii jokes) if Nintendo named their new console Unus.
