Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Interview with Bill Sullivan Of High Voltage Software

Had a fun interview with Conduit 2's lead designer at E3.  Don't think I've seen a designer so enthusiastic about their product as he is.  It was almost like he couldn't wait for E3 to be over with just so he can go back to working on it.

"Interview" seems like the wrong word. You just kinda poked him with a quick comment and he would launch into a rant. It was like pushing a boulder down a hill with a stick.

Once he got going, you couldn't stop the guy.  But it was great because he'd answer questions we had anyway so we just kinda rolled with it....to take note from your boulder analogy.

He is really into the game it seems like, but it was like this on the first one too. In fact, that guy overhypeing it so much is what made the first one more meh to me than it could have been.

Thats the problem.  The Conduit was a decent game, but nothing more. Gladiator AD ( it has a new name now, but I cant recall it) bombed critcally, and it barely has any preorders, so it will bomb financially too. The Haunted looked great untill they started to work on the top down HD versions ( so we know where the main focus will go now).

I dont get it why any Wii fan would get excited for this... it sounds good but thus far HVS only provided failures when it comes to new IPs and shovelware. After the bad performance of Tournament of legends even TC2s budget might shrink, so it might be even rushed out...

Dont get me wrong, I do want it to be a cool game, I love HVSs graphics push, but thus far all signs point to mediocraty. I hope that I am wrong and they will pull a Guerilla stunt and make the second itteration far superior to the first one

sweet interview.  I was wondering if we'd see Agent Ford in Smash Bros...that would be awesome.

Well they haven't given up on the Wii, which is more than can be said of a lot of developers, and they are implementing things that many have said would have helped the game.

Plus having an option like horde looks freakin' awesome.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Not to knowck you or anything but you said you couldn't remember Gladiator A.D.'s new name then wrote it in the next paragraph.  Then called The Grinder by the wrong name (The Haunted).

Tournament of Legends got a funding and development cut as staff went to work on Conduit 2.  The Grinder went top down on the HD consoles just to put something out there for the HD consoles.  I even ask about the Wii iteration in the interview and it seems like from his words and others at HVS that it will definitly still be a FPS on Wii.

And I even noted in the article that everything they've promised is being delivered on.  I can understand being skeptical but when contrary data is shown, why continue to 'expect mediocrity'?

^^ Exactly.

but thus far all signs point to mediocraty

Anyone tracking this game will know that there's plently to get excited for.

In my opinion Twilight Princess is better than Ocarina of t... * gets shot *

I haven't seen  a designer this enthusiastic about a project they were doing since the original Conduit.
