My problem is that I am constantly put into matches with people of levels in the 40s while I am level 8.

Me and KylieDog are level 40 something, but that doesn't stop us from kicking the asses of higher levels.

Aside from knowing level design, shooters are pretty much the same. It's sorta funny how people complain about the repetition of JRPGs and gameplay, even though every shooter is pretty much about flanking and headshots.

Not SOCOM. You have to play for a while before you get really good.

Why? Heavy emphasis on learning level design? High damage/low health? Low accuracy? What fundamental aspects of shooter does it change?

Only shooter I can't pick up and play is KZ2, because it's controls are so fucking wonky.

Well, maybe its just me but I consider myself skilled at shooter games, but SOCOM took a while for me to master. I only played the PSP version however. You may be different, but 95 % of the time the more experienced player defeats the lesser experienced person. I can't explain it, there's certain things you do subconsciously after playing for a while. You gotta play it to know what I mean.

But level 40s is pretty good. That must have took some time. I just started playing UC2 MP in January after playing the SP about 5 times in a row. Got to around level 5 and then I stopped playing. Then I started again like last month and I'm constantly put into these unbalanced matches...

Level 8 vs level  high 40s....overkill, don't you think ? I'm not that good at shooters either.

I've put in 200 hours into the game's multiplayer, and I have to tell you that glitching is not as prevalent as it was before. Naughty Dog has fixed alot, and I mean ALOT, of glitches. Though you will always find assholes who try to figure out a new one as soon as an update is released. As for treasure-camping, treasure-glitching, and everyone simultaneously leaving the match, all I have to say is that there still is a good amount of work that Naughty Dog has to put in to fix the multiplayer.

For whats it worth, I like it. Nothing in the game is TOO overpowered and everything seems quite balanced. Co-op objective matches are a blast to finish with friends, especially on harder difficulties which require a decent strategy. There are a good number of playlists to play on, which does make the game more fun and exciting. The only BIG issue that I've come across are the online connection errors. GOD, they suck! Error this and error that. Once it took me 20 mins just to log-in online; why did it take that long you say? I got the "Error Syncing Models" error over 7 times.

Other than that, It still is a blast to play :)

pretty much this.

I've only encountered two people doing the map glitch, buy that was awhile ago, one match even the opposing team bashed the person that was glitching(and my team still won both of those times) like hasanwhay said naughty dog did alot to fix these errors(though I think after update 1.04 is where those synching errors started)
