I can't contribute to the actual topic as I've played DA:O only on PS3, but to this:

ps. I don't mind any recomendations about good (and cheap) PC games that I might have missed out on

Civilization IV, my favourite PC game of the past ~5 years, is available for £6/€10

Just bought that actually!

I can't comment on PC version either as I played DA:O on the 360, but don't miss "The Witcher" on pc!  You can thank me later!  :)

I have heard about the Witcher before, but not any details about what type of game it is and why it is good

Many thought it was a better game than the first Mass Effect. In others words thought it was the best RPG from that year. It is not as polished as Mass Effect, but has awesome game-play and a very good story. It however takes place in  a medieval fantasy world. So you have to like that setting. the enhanced edition is only 16 Euro on Steam though. I would definitely recommend it .

I'm not 100% on medieval fantasy, I do like sci-fi, so I will probably leave it for a while, as I already have about 10 PC games to play, firstly Kotor, but I am sure I will pick it up at some point

Yeah in your case I would just wait then, maybe there will be a sale on Steam again.

The Witcher is far better than Mass Effect. It won more awards than both ME versions combined, and that was when the Enhanced Edition wasn't even out.

It is alot better on the PC technically. But the game itself isn't any better unfortunetly.

The combat itself is way better on PC.

I downloaded the CGI trailers.  I looked at video comparisons on youtube (you wouldn't believe the fuss made about which version looked better--PC/360/PS3).  I read the reviews.

I bought Dragon Age origins for the 360 yesterday.  You would not believe the look of disgust that was on my face when I saw this game running on my HDTV!  Holy shit, is this game ugly!!  I'm sure it's a great game and I intend to really get into it today but, at this point, I think any version of this game is going to look like ass.

The combat as a whole sucks. it's the reason why I stopped playing.

Naw, it had to be severely dumbed down graphically to fit on a single DVD for 360 - The PC version is almost 20 GB big IIRC, where as a single DVD9 gives just over a third that capacity...

and yet the PC version still looks pathetic.
