Historically 360 boosts have been short lived.

So we should wait and see. America/Kinect should keep the 360 ahead of the PS3 until Sony's next price cut. Basically, no chance of PS3 outselling 360 *this generation* now in my opinion.

yeah that boost in 2008 didn't last very long....  I think it was only about 10 months.

More like four.

Look at 2008 vs 2009 similar months.

I suppose it could still be considered a boost if numbers don't rise, but are prevented from going lower?

According to your own charts, seems about 6 months - and almost 10, if you count the ~17,000 difference in March/April of 2009 (even though PS3 outsold the 360 in this period - it relinquished it two months later, showing a sustained boost for 360 sales).

Don't know about you - but I think you just proved yourself wrong.

Is this Wii's lowest week ever?

Good question, why don't you go check :p

There's no more graphs with weekly sales :(

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

But, but, but... ok, he was owned.

*Looks at your avatar*

Life has owned you.

Nice playing with you, dickhead!

If only you had hummility to say you were wrong...

I'm not going to report you because I'm not like that.

Now  look at my reply to Kowen, with graphs to back me up. I don't think I'm the one that's wrong.

Really, I come in here, state my opinion, get sarcastically called out for it, then some anime fan says I got owned, and all the time I was right...

He was wayyyyyy out of order there, and will likely receive a deserved ban.

but it was more like 7 months...

Okay, BBH, I'm not the type of user who looks for bans  (never got one, never thought I would get one), so before I get that, I'm sorry. This is not a sorry as in "trying to avoid it", its just a " before I'm unable to post" type of sorry!

Like I said, I was playing (kidding) in the first post, but maybe a got a bit too low. Okay, now I wait.

Yea, I suppose it is about 6 then, not four.

But what I said was that 360 boosts in the past have been short, obviously meaning in comparison to its competitors.

That's right, but as I say who knows if Kinect can be a game changer.

Good job for the 360.  It managed to stop the PS3 in its tracks for now. I think it'll last until august for US, and september for UK, then start up again with Reach and Kinect. Either way, Sony better Step Thier Game Up

Why are people saying the 360 bump didn't last long, it was outselling PS3 all the way up to September last year ...

This is my opinion, so please don't kill me. :D

The X360 is having a good boost, but this won't last a lot.

PS3 will have a rise in sales from the Move launch, while the X360 sales will reduce within one month, so PS3 will be above the 360 weekly sales again.

I'll split the difference with you... 7 months

Even though the graphs based on VGC numbers basically show 4?

Even still, 7 months (4 actually) is a short boost for going to such a low price point. The PS3 has had a longer, better boost in going to $299.

PS3 boosts are bigger up to now, that's a fact. Kinect may be a different story though for thr 360.

have you looked a PS3 2010 v 2008?

Nope. I'm guessing 2008 was higher so far? By how much?

I suppose though that each boost for any console is combatting the losing of consumer interest as the product's age increases.

I'd still stick by my point that PS3 boosts have been better, especially considering how in comparison it's still very expensive.

If you look at your recent gap charts (WW 360 lead) you can see that the PS3 takes more out of that lead in a boost than the 360 increases it in a boost.

but Move is tracking horribly.

But it was selling just as much the previous year each month despite being at a higher price point.

For going to $199 (or was it $149? Can't remember) it was quite a short boost.
