When I first read the interview in this thread I knew that comments like "Sony just waits so that they can copy Nintendo and MS." will come up. Seriously guys, if you hate Sony then do it for your own and don't write BS like this. It's just annoying, so stop it. (Why can't this being considered trolling?! btw...)

Why?

Sony isn't keen on innovating, they'd rather let other people do that and then improve on their designs

They saw what Microsoft did with Live and made the PSN based off of that.  They looked at what people liked and didn't like to make it.

They saw how Nintendo captured a new marked with the Wii and made the Move.  They decided to make a Wii that the casual crowd could still enjoy but also provide games the core gamers have been screaming for.

As much as you don't like people saying it, Sony is good at taking a look at what others are doing and then trying to make it their own.

As you said: they improve! Improving is not the same as copying!

this kind of makes sense because i dont think the xbox720 will be to much powerful then the ps3 do any of you think it will?

The thing is if Sony really are not going to release in the next five years it is unlikely that the 360 should feel the need to release 3 years prior. The PS3 and its perceived power advantage will mean diddly if a new console came out. The PS3 would be old tech no matter what the Sony Execs like to think.

Luckily for Sony, Microsoft are probably happy to milk this generation for a while yet. Without any real competition (new console) they will continue to tinker with the existing gen whilst working on future prototypes just to be ready.

If any console has a need to launch early it will be the Wii as it is definately tied into the old cycle but current sales would suggest that the Wii has no need to launch yet either.

I am sure all three will have magic trigger points that will begin the cycle, I just do not think it will be X number of years.

Who cares who came up with the ideas?

At the end of the day consumers get quality produce, and it can work for Sony as a business.

Sony are seen as one of the most innovative companies in the world, even though they aren't.

Because there is a fair amount of truth in it...

You can call it whatever you want, it doesn't much matter.  Sony copies things and tries to make it their own.

The Move for instance is a great example.  Anyone who says they didn't copy the Wiimote is just delusional, plain and simple.  That said, it very well could be better, we'll see what they do with it.

My point is just because they copy, improve, or whatever you want to call it doesn't have to be a bad thing and pushed under the carpet.  Sony very much copied the Wii Remote, good for them.  They saw something successful and wanted in on that, there's really nothing wrong with that.

Lol great, so next generation the PS4 is going to have another bunch of crappy ports and Xbox fanboys will still be talking sales and ignoring that there consol launched first. I just thank god this is my last gen of gaming. I wouldn't be able to take another generation of pure ignorance.

I think the "Xbox Fanboys" have every right to be happy with its sale a years headstart or not. After all trawl around for expectations at the time and a Playstation at any price was going to wipe the floor with this upstart. Guess what it didnt happen and actually if anything it must of been pretty embarrassing in Sony towers trying to explain why this shoe in of a console managed to balls things up so much.

You can pretend the year made all the difference whilst in your heart of hearts you know Sony simply screwed up. Nobody expected Microsoft to be in this position with one or even two years headstart. Focusing on the start point is simply a mechanism to divert people away from the real issue Sony failed.

To clarify "failed" does not mean that the Playstation 3 is a failure as it clearly is not. It failed simply in the context of early sales and the failure to grab perceived guaranteed market dominance.

I think it's funny what people are reading into this comment.  Have a think about the market at present and what is dominating.

It's the Nintendo Wii in home consoles and this isn't winning due to graphics as we all know.  Ok so where am i going with this?  Well Nintendo isn't going to release a Wii HD because they know there fans arn't playing there games for the graphics, and Nintendo has said they will not release a new console until it has significant game changing improvement.

Now lets look at Xbox, they have Natal coming out and want to see how this will do before they even think about creating a new system.  Same really goes for Sony, they will be watching what happens with Move and Natal.

I think they will all be watching to see the impact of 3D as well.

So we can expect atleast a few more years of the current gen if you ask me, and also don't expect the next gen consoles to be souped up ps3's and xbox 360's.  The market has shown that this is not what they want.

Well, for you it seems that these 2 things are almost the same, but I don't really want to argue about copying right now because it would derail the thread.

But you probably know how comments like the one I mentioned above are usually meant, or better... which kind of people write things like that. It's mostly fanboys who want to be funny, that's why I said that.
