No but they could easily remove some of the intricacies, like long cooldowns, spell combinations, fewer skills to choose from, etc. etc. and completely ruin the game.

That is unrelated to my post and unrelated to the post that I was replying to.

I was talking about the better action more action quote, which implies dumbing down and what I replied to. ME2 was a severely dumbed down RPG and I am afraid if DA suffers the same.

I do not know how you take "better action" to mean worse action, somehow, but I do not care how you do it. It's not what I was talking about. Your concerns with specific elements of gameplay are immaterial to the conversation you interjected in.

The same way current RPGs have "better action" than the RPGs from 2000, that is extrenmely dumbed down and boring.

You were talking about ME2 and how it was streamlined its core. THen I said that that was not its core, and what it did only ruined it, then you said you were not going to discuss the merits of ME2 and what it did, when you in fact started to do just that. So in fact you changed the topic I interjected in, not me.

...Mummelman's statement:

If I want to play action games and shooters I'll go play some Ninja Gaiden and CoD.

You can see that he is worried that Dragon Age 2 will play like an action game, ala Ninja Gaiden.

My reply:

I don't think you have to worry about it. The evolution of Mass Effect 2 was a culling of unnecessary elements and a tightening of core mechanics, since it already played like a shooter - just a very clunky one.

Dragon Age to the best of my knowledge doesn't play like an action game. If they do anything they'll probably just streamline the command input system so it's faster-paced.

You can see that I am referring to how it will probably not play like Ninja Gaiden, since it has no Ninja Gaiden-ish elements, in contrast to how Mass Effect already had shooter elements.

Vlad. I am not taling about anything except for whether or not Dragon Age 2 will play like an action game. Anything else introduced into this conversation comes from you, not me.

Do me the favor of dropping it.

I don't know whether he was using a hyperbole when he said CoD and Ninja Gaiden, but I would venture to bet that he did. His concern was making the game more action oriented than DA1, not just improving the system already in place. Then you went on to discuss the merits of ME2, and then deny any such discussion.

Unless you were only answering his exaggeration, and not his main point, in which case I don't know why you would do that and I will just drop it then.

I hope this is more akin to Baldur's Gate 1 to BG 2, rather than ME1 to ME2. The interface in ME1 was pretty clunky, especially the inventory, but it and various other mechanics should have been fixed rather than simply ripped out. In contrast, the interface in DA:O was an absolute joy to use and I thoroughly enjoyed the various skill trees. I really don't want to see the stuff that made DA:O so enjoyable taken out to 'streamline' it and I hope Bioware think that way too.

I read more about DA 2 and im less pleased , i could understand changes in Mass Effect because of the whole shooter mechanic, however i was a bit annoyed with how little items were in the game or how little skills i could develop.

DA played like a great RPG (closest thing to Baldur's Gate), and now we are more likely to get a hack and slash game with some RPG elements. Ill end up getting it because the story will be good , but im dissapointed with their approach to RPG's especially i always prefered Bioware / Black Isle products to Betsheda (i hate oblivion).

Having one character and one race also sucks, Fantasy games were always cool because of the diversity, and customisation of   your character. Now we are stuck with a guy with the most generic name in the world "Hawke". Also i thought "Origins" was a great idea giving the game more replayability and more knowledge about the Universe.

Why are they doing this?

I believe that the two bioware projects are completely different. It makes no sense to create two games that will be similar.

ME2 was dumbed down RPG-wise,but it was still a high quality game. They tried to reach a broader audience.I don't thnk they will act in the same way with DA

Also like Mass Effect, Dragon Age 2 is ditching the original's roll-your-own character creation system, complete with unique origin stories for all the different playable races, for a more "cinematic" scripted hero named Hawke. BioWare's Chris Priestley addressed the community on the official forums, stating, "While I do enjoy having fun with our fans, I am not joking about this. The player character is a human (either male or female) with the last name of Hawke. Dragon Age 2 is the story of Hawke." Then he quotes from the press release:

Hmm.  This is hardly fatal, but it's kind of a bummer that they're scaling this aspect of the original back.  Hopefully they'll make up for it elsewhere.

Oh great, the game is already starting to suck hard and it hasn;'t even been released yet.
