Metroid Other M will be released in the UK on 3 September, just three days after Samus Aran's new adventure launches in the US.

Of course we had confirmation last week that the new game would launch in September last week but now Nintendo has announced the actual release date.

That means there are just under two months to go until you can get your hands on the new game which promises to explain why Samus Aran became a bounty hunter.

We're also being promised a more physical heroine this time as Samus has a range of melee attacks that she can call upon. You can jump on enemies to perform the powerful Overblast attack, use the 1 Button with precise timing to Counter-attack and finish off wounded enemies with a Lethal Strike.

Other new moves include dodging enemy attacks with a well-timed Sensemove and performing a health-restoring Concentration move by holding the Wii Remote vertically with the A Button pressed down.

She also has a the new weapon called the Diffusion Beam which will scatter Charge Beams after impact and hit additional enemies.

This will help as you explore the giant Galactic Federation vessel which contains a huge variety of locations, each with different environments, unique flora, fauna and enemies.

The Biosphere, for example, is a gigantic greenhouse containing a jungle complete with a waterfall and countless aggressive tropical reatures and plants.

Meanwhile The Cryosphere is a cold, snowy environment where the temperature is so low that entrances are often blocked by ice.

There's also the Pyrosphere, an area filled with volcanoes and magma. Some areas here have such high temperatures that Samus's health decreases if not equipped with the heat-resistent Varia Suit.

With over an hour of cut-scenes we are being promised the most cinematic experience ever in a Metroid game.

The OP made it sound like Metroid Fusion in terms of locations. Im not too happy about that. Fusion was far too structured and the world didnt feel alive.

I loved Fusion though!

I have now been enticed into buying this game on the first day of release. Metroid: Other M could potentially be held as the best Metroid game, which is a difficult task in itself.
