Nthing can be done.

when changes are made ppl hate it for being differnt. When changes arent made ppl hate it for not innovating. Othrwise th games are too niche to sell.

jrpg are dead

only good jrpgs this gen has been valkyria, twewy, lost oddesy, Bowser's Inside Story, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Chrono Trigger DS, Final Fantasy III and IV DS, Dragon Quest IV, V and VI DS, Final Fantasy Tactics WotL, Dragon Quest IX, Xenoblade, Tales of Graces, Pokemon D/P/Pt/HG/SS, Blue Dragon, Tales of Symphonia 2, Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 1 and 2, Star Ocean: TLH, Disgaia 3  and ff13

Fixed for my opinion

This thread is very funny. Seems that the ppl who played FF13 are thinking that the JRPGs are in great decline... But those who played DQ9 think it is quite OK condition...

And the funniest thing that both of that games are made by Square-Enix... :)

uh.... DQ9 developers-----> Level 5 ( my most trusted developer this gen) it was Published by SE since they hold the rights for the franchise of course, they didnt develop it, and even if they did it wouldnt have been the same team that is killing FF.

Strange... I thought DQ9 published by Nintendo?

depends on the area, in japan it was published by SE, still, it's their franchise so that's why you'll always see their logo, it's their property.

the thing is, SE cant mess with the DQ formula cause it's probably the biggest RPG franchise in japan, it's bigger than FF in Japan from what i understand. the main audience for DQ is japan so it doesnt make sense to destroy a working formula just to try and appeal the western market. i hope DQ does very well in the west too so that they might understand that messing with the traditional JRPG style wont make it more appealing to the western market.
