Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Destructoid Crackdown 2 Review - 4.5/10

Wow, that's bad.  I wanted to get this game (never played Crackdown 1) because of the demo but I guess I'll pass--or wait to see what other reviewers/users have to say.

-You know, Destructiod gave "Deadly Premonition" a 10/10.  I bought that game on Friday and when I opened the shrinkwrap, the disc kicked me in the balls!!  I'm not sure what to make of these guys.

If I were you I would just buy the first, it's probably very cheap by now.

certain games do set milestones for being sequals, this might just not be one of them, too bad.

i just feel i should note that Ruffian games is composed of ex employees of Realtime Worlds, the creators of the first Crackdown.  the review, to me, made it seem that they were just some random bums chosen to work on the game, which is not the case.

Oh yeah we all know Assassin's Creed 2 was a huge letdown over the first

I never felt AC was a good series to start with so I'm prolly not the best person to talk to about that. I thought the original had some good concepts but had issues with game mechanics in the core design, I'm not talking about bugs here, just core design, and the second one followed on that core design and expanded further to more designs on top of that core design in which I had issues with. So I really don't see how 4.5 is a problem, not to mention UBISOFT's fucking DRM on PC made the game deserving of a 0/10 because they are assholes.

Well, all reviews have been quite average, IGN gave it a 7.5, again, basically saying that it is the same game so what Destructoid write isnt wrong

I bought Crackdown 1 for about £5 the other week, and as far as I can tell, there is no reason to buy Crackdown 2 after playing this

These guys lost a shit load of credibility to me when they over-bashed Assassin's Creed 2 and Final Fantasy XIII

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Judging from some podcasts from Giant Bomb, Sarcastic Gamer and 1UP, the consensus from their gaming event's experience with the game has been kinda meh. Apparently they all share the feeling that it's trying to be like Halo, when it should be trying to be more like Crackdown 1 and Infamous. I don't know what that mean's because I haven't played the game yet, but I think it has to do with the multi-player.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Destructoid (and this is not a joke) is my favorite review site after VGC. When I'm uncertain about a game, I refer to them and base my purchase on their reviews.

They seem to share my outlook on quality.

Edit: * I just realized that Destructoid gave AC 2 a 4.5/10 ... they can burn in hell for all I care now.

I did, however, agree 110% with their FFXIII review.

Some people doesnt get that a review is simply someone's opinion on a game. Jim's reviews may be harsh, but he explains in details what he didnt like about it.

I think he's a pretty good reviewer and he does his job well.
