Yeah it is over for 2nd place for PS3.

But lets be honest. Sony made a damn good attempt.

There just isn't an answer to Kinect and 360s. Especially considering 360s is the same price as PS3 Slim. And it would appear that it's the 360s selling and not the pricecut models due to rise in availability and rise in sales of 360.

EU numbers should be awesome to on July 17th week.

My city is into taking preorders for the 2nd shipment. As the first is all preordered up.

Price cut and GT5. Fair enough as an answer?

PS3 won't be getting a price cut.  360 might, though.

360 already got a price cut of 50$, didn't it? Agreed, the chances that the ps3 will get a price cut are slim but there are still GT5 and Move.

I thought people learn from their mistakes...2008,2009 and now 2010. I'm hearing the word "Doomed" too often. People should think twice before typing that word.

Only for the models they dont make anymore. When they are gone. 36s is $299. With an Arcade 360s looking likely to hit in Autumn for $199.

Ah who gives a crap anymore. Its going to be a back and forth battle between the two consols until both consols have ended there cycle. Neither of them will be disconnected at this stage now and all final sales will be for bragging rights but Wii won those rights ages ago.

I think both consols learned some valuable lessons this generation and next gen will really be the deciding factor between the 2. We know Sonys going to try and get out there first next gen with there consol and they'll release with an affordable pricepoint this time and we know Microsofts not going to rush out there next consol because of the RROD.

agreed. like i've said before this gen is nothing more then a skirmish. the real king (Nintendo) came back to take its crown, and they did it in style, but next gen is anybody's stage and i beleave it will determine who stays and who goes.

I gave up reading your post when you said that MS had basically done nothing when and since the PS3 Slim launch.  You do realise that the 360 Elite got a $100 price-cut right along the PS3, right?  The Pro also got a $50 price-cut to clear out stock.  So, you had a $199 Arcade, a $249 Pro, and a $299 Elite.  And yet, it wasn't able to beat out a system who's lowest entry price was $299.  So, I'll ask you the same thing I asked in the previous paragraph.  What do you think is going to happen when the PS3 hits $199?  Heck, even $249?

And look who it is....

Firstly your 100% right about the cuts. So what were the price of the elites before the massive $50 drop? Also in your analysis of the figures you forgot to mention a pretty big price change, the Arcade was given a £30 ($45) INCREASE. Why did you forget to mention that bit i wonder.....

As for the rest of what you said nostradamus when will we be seeing this $100 price cut you claim? Or to put that into some numbers for you that is 33% off of the current price. Seeing as Sony themselves only a few weeks ago said they have finally made profit on each PS3 do you really think they would give up 1/3 of the money they get from each PS3?

Do anyone else agree with him that there will be a $199 ps3 anytime soon?

Until that happens we will never know so i can't say. I imagine it would go on to do very well just like it has since it's last price cut. But it won't happen anytime soon, in that time the 360 will be increasing it's lead over the PS3. I think it is that point you seemed to have missed. maybe you should have read the rest of it rather then once more going on one of your little crusades :)

Yes, it is I...

Anyway, the Elite was dropped $100 dollars before the launch of the PS3 Slim.  From $399 to $299.  And yes, the Arcade was increased in the UK, but in America (it's strongest region) there was no such increase.  It remained $199.

I expect the PS3 $199 price no earlier than Holiday Season '11, but more likely in Holiday Season '12.  However, another big cut to $249 will most likely be announced at next year's E3.  You see, Sony still has the price card to play.  But, if MS Slim and Kinect fail to bring about long-term sales bumps (which I don't believe they will outside of America), then they have no more cards to play.  Not to mention what GT5 is going to do to sales in EMEAA.

And I will continue to crusade for as long as I continue to breathe.

Well the Eyetoy was very limited. But I guess Sony is dumb for not utilizing technology it already had.

Instead they just ripped off the other guy and gave us something we don't want or need.

Sony will wait to the last possible minute to make that price drop. mainly to see what MS price drop will be.

We will see.

We don't know how long the boost will last, we don't know what Kinect will do, we dont know what Sony have planned to reach that 15 Million or whatever it is.

As far as worldwide sales I think it's just too soon to call either way.  There's still plenty of time left of both systems being on the market and the gap between the two is not that large.  And although the 360 will always remain the cheaper console, let's not forget that Playstation systems have always become mighty alluring on a wide-spread level once that inevitable $199 price comes around.

I think that Kinect will have a large reception, simply because it is new and different.  Personally though I think people will realize that it may be better suited as a device for 360 apps other than games, which could hinder its ability to steal a lot of the Wii thunder as far as game development.  The Move, however, has the opportunity to share cross-platform games with Wii (e.g. Dead Space Extraction) as they are incredibly similar in that regard.  It's being supported by both harcore games (SOCOM, Killzone 3) and family oriented games (Eyepet, etc.), the latter of which may appeal more to the average family already familiar with the Wii experience than Kinect might.  While I'm not saying it will, I think that the Move could end up proving to be the more successful of the two in the long run.

...People were in denial about this?
