PS3 cannot afford to get to 199$ so why should they be concerned about that?  Also, if the majority of their sales are people backing up their 360 for a RROD - or replacing them, then it makes the attach rate for the 360 even more impressive than it already is.

Point of the matter is, while the PS3 is a terrific system by itself - the 360 offers that affordable middle ground for those who want a console without motion controls at a lower cost.  They are always lower than the PS3 - always one step ahead.  They've made Sony burn their profits in order to KEEP UP.

Now that the 360 has a new model, a good chunk of that ground made up with their new model AND price drop, is dwindling away again - and the new 360 isn't even released in Others yet.  Sony is going to have to do anything stunt they do not want to do - b/c of Microsoft.  More lost profits.  You think they're doing all of this because they want to? lol --- time to face it.  Microsoft and Nintendo are dragging the former giant through the dirt. 

When you have to chisel out 2nd place with what Sony has dished out over the years, you know they're disappointed.

You sound angry.  I've loved gaming on both my PS3 and 360, I personally couldn't care less which finishes ahead in this "race", I suggest you start to think in a similar fashion too.

Most of you here need to realize that the consoles you are "rooting for" are boxes made of metal and plastic that are manufactured by companies that want your money. These hunks of future landfill that play games and are meant to entertain. They don't have supernatural powers, they were not designed for battle, and they require you to devote yourself to them.

I have been a core gamer for 20 years of my life, and I love video games. Notice I didn't say, "I love only Playstation" or "I love only Xbox." I own all consoles so that I can play any game I choose to. I don't ever have to be concerned that I won't have the opportunity to play something, and I don't have to concern myself to corporate loyalty. Right now tonight, I could play Uncharted 2, then pop in Alan Wake, and then finish up with some Wii Sports Resort. It's amazing, but it's possible. And guess what! I don't get angry when playing my 360 that there is a PS3 sitting right beside it.

Who care which console comes in first? Who said it was a competition other than the money hungry companies that are fighting for your every dollar?

Grow up, and just play some video games.

Well, they aren't going to catch them in the USA, that's for sure. Worldwide may be a different story. It all depends on what the PS3 does in Japan really. That's truly the PS3's only edge. The UK and US is pretty much a wash. The PS3 sells better in the UK and the 360 sells better in the US. We still have to wait and see if these hardware numbers stay up there above the PS3. I think the Halo Reach bundle will also increase hardware sales though.

I'm not going to argue with you, but do you think its brighter than the future of the PS3?

Does it matter? As long as the 360 can maintain its share of the market than it'll be a bright future. In the long run they should sell over 70 million units. They've built an audience that'll help the next Xbox be a success.

The PS3 on the otherhand seems to be struggling to keep past Sony console fans.
