Forums - Sales Discussion - IGN: Racing games didn't sell well these days

It's quite simple. He'll redefine the term "fighter" so that it's a narrow, specific genre that excludes successful games he wants to exclude and create new genre boxes specifically for those games, rather than admit that it's a broad genre. That way they never have to be mentioned for comparison. The fact that the primary activity in Mario Kart is racing and the primary activity in SSBB is fighting will be ignored.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

im still waiting for an actuall definition and explanation as to why it isnt a fighter other than "its not a fighter, so there...."

otherwise, your just proving Demotruk right

The final boss of Street Fighter IV said Smash Bros is a fighter.  I rest my case. <3

Here, the ACTUAL definitions:

Racers: need to be so realistic that the sun is able to reflect off the car in front of you and cause you to crash into the nearest wall with HD flames.

Fighters: need to have about 74 different moves for each character and the fighters need to bleed if they so much as cough on each other.

That's what I'm assuming he means for them.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

People that say mario kart is a racing game are completely out of they minds its one of the best party games ever but defenetly not a racer

lol, it's like the Smash Bros excuse all over again.  What is it about Nintendo that makes some just incapable of acknowledging their successes?   To the point where they have to throw Nintendo games into their own separate little walled off genres (Smash Bros isn't a fighter, Mario Kart isn't a racer, Zelda isn't an ARPG, Pikmin isn't a RTS, Pokemon isn't an RPG, etc)?

Smash Brothers isnt a fighter

Mario Kart is a racer becuse you race.

Smash Bros is a fighter because you fight.

/arguement.

I agree some of the best racing games like Forza, and GT: Prolouge are being overshadowed by a lot of 'arcade' racing games. Thought even when Forza and GT have the best quality, while arcade are less serious and fun.

LOL prologue XD

u know what GT5 is goign to sell right?

When GT5 come out, we will see if racing games didn't sell well these days...

Uncharted & The Last of Us

(Definitely, best games of last Gen)

Well if there aren't quality racing games, people won't buy them.
