Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Kid Icarus 3DS - Brilliant Sakurai interview

Lots of information about controls, story and the 3DS technology. 10 minute interview.

http://www.e3coverage.com/2010/exclusive-kid-icarus-uprising-developer-interview-with-masahiro-sakurai/

- Flying sections are on rails, with maximum of 5 minutes flying time

- Ground sections are normal. It will use stylus and analoge stick.

- Sakurai says, sorry for making us wait so long and have high expectations.

EXCITING STUFF!!!!

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

The on rails flying is slightly disappointing. But I can live with it as long as they can make it work. I'm sure they can. When I get a 3DS I will pick this up.

I'm worried about using analog stick and stylus simultaneously. I was never very good at playing DS games that required buttons and styus at same time.

Good listen thanks for the link and as always that ship coming up in the backround just looks freaking awesome. The controls might take a little getting use to though.

Did he say that we shot with the L button?!!!

I hope the 3DS has a really good L button, because i almost don't use the L button on my DSLite and it is almost broken.

sweet stuff!

it sounds even more awesome than before

The only flying section in the NES original was also "on rails". :P
