Forums - General Discussion - Masturbation is bad for the mind and body

Bad for the body...no.  I don't see how it could be.

For the mind...this would depend on an individual basis, for some people I'm sure it could be stress relief and thus good, on the other hand for some lonely soul it could probably be depressing which can be very bad.

So true I've been there before =(

Here's the educated response from someone who has taken several bio and psychobio classes.

Masturbation for males reduces testosteron and increases estrogen. A good balance keeps you looking young, less body hair, and reduces baldness. It also reduces aggression and keeps you thinking clearly.

Masturbation in females makes them more confident and more aggressive. Women who masturbate or have a lot of sex are often more dominant and more assertive as it brings them into a better balance.

boxers and other people who are into accomplishment "hold off" because it increases testosterone, which has a variety of effects including less pain, better endurance, sometimes more focus.

Female boxers are encouraged to get as much sex as they can because it increases testosterone.

can you explain more please on how that happens ? or give a link so we can read it? just because I am confused because everyone else says other wise, including medical sites. :)

This current study examined the effect of a 3-week period of sexual abstinence on the neuroendocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm. Hormonal and cardiovascular parameters were examined in ten healthy adult men during sexual arousal and masturbation-induced orgasm. Blood was drawn continuously and cardiovascular parameters were constantly monitored. This procedure was conducted for each participant twice, both before and after a 3-week period of sexual abstinence. Plasma was subsequently analysed for concentrations of adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol, prolactin, luteinizing hormone and testosterone concentrations. Orgasm increased blood pressure, heart rate, plasma catecholamines and prolactin. These effects were observed both before and after sexual abstinence. In contrast, although plasma testosterone was unaltered by orgasm, higher testosterone concentrations were observed following the period of abstinence. These data demonstrate that acute abstinence does not change the neuroendocrine response to orgasm but does produce elevated levels of testosterone in males.

Also, I can't find the study, but orgasm sparks a production in estogen levels. Estrogen is later converted to testosterone. So, masturbation to completion results in a dip in testosterone, increased estrogen, and later increased testosterone.

It has something to do with ancient man becoming more of a protector and the woman becoming more sexually aggressive which keeps the man in this chemically altered state.

Actually i'm removing Chi from the equation. A magnetic field is a stream of electron particles that travels from one polarity to the other. However we are not here to judge what a magnetic field is. Astrology, Aura and Indigo children are not the same areas of study. Astrology is the movement of the stars in relation to the behavior and fate of people. An area I have no interest in. I just prefer to know than be ignorant. Aura are fields around a person and have been verified though often searching for proof you end up with new age crap(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioelectromagnetism , http://www.bem.fi/ , http://www.bioelectromagnetics.org/). Indigo children is more new age. I don't list anything new age. I refer to current bio magnetic fields and mental chemical states. I also list that there is/was a religion based around the ideas of sex and the potential effects that would have in regards to bio-electromagnetism.

I assure you I have studied on magnetic fields and wave particles. Only in a hobbyist level of course. My personal interests are in the areas of magnetic and particle field theory. Humans have a magnetically field. One could associate the state of the field with colours, though frequency would be more appropriate, but colours are more accepted as a general reference than referring to a biofield in the frequency range of 4-6. Again this has been proven true.

Anyways you embarrass yourself with your display of knowledge. Your comment consisted of a single paragraph and sentence with no more information concerning the the OP state. So why not be assisting to the individuals issues.

To the proff00
I would love to see those studies in regards to the chemicals effects of estrogen and testosrone on the genders. That sounds so fascinating. I would appreciate a PM on that one :)

After hearing more people on the subject. I really suggest people go to the doctor if they have anyside effects.

1. Magnetic Field is not a stream of electrons, is a force fiel generated from electric charges in movement.

2. According to 1, what charges are in movement in the human body? And I mean BODY, I know there are electrochemical interactions in cellular and neuron levels. Heck, I even give you at organ levels. But charges moving constantly through the entire body? As to generate a noticeable magnetic field? I don't know, but a priori, I don't think so. In cells and organs, yes.

3. We can discuss 1 and 2, my issue is not there mainly.

4 Now, if you start mixing magnetic fields and emotions, you go out of electromagnetism to enter the field of pseudoscience, where astrology, auras and indigo children welcome you. Those topics, sir, are not "fields of study", are pure crap. If you seriously consider them, well, thats your problem, but don't bring pseudoscience to the conversation, it's insulting.

Now OT. As far as I know there is a potential issue known as Delayed Ejaculation. Is not the end of the world and is not irreversible, but is very annoying anyway

If it were really embarrassing, it would be an issue.

It is not   :P
