Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Goldeneye, vs. Conduit 2, vs. Black Ops. What say you??

Easy one this, I loved Goldeneye back in the day, I despise COD games, and The Conduit made me want to shove flaming pokers into my eyeballs, it was that bad.

I enjoyed Conduit but it did disappoint.   I will wait for reviews both professional and from people hear before committing to the second.

Never played Goldeneye (only played PC FPS in those days) but I don't have high expectations of this.  Looks like a cash-in to me.  But again, I'll be watching reviews closely.

I'm sure CoD:BO will be great but I don't care for war titles.  Very unlikely I'd get this.

So currently it's Conduit 2 > Goldeneye >>>>>>>> CoD for me but it'll depend on reviews in the end.   I might get both Conduit and Goldeneye if they are both solid or neither, although I'd like one for split-screen local at least.

Goldeneye for sure. Call of duty is not an experience meant to be on wii....I don't know conduit 2 but I tried the 1st and it sucked to me...

Que?  How is an FPS that has the same content and better controls not meant to be on Wii

Because the COD is developed on HD consoles in the first place, so the content of the game is designed to take advantege of the HD consoles capabilities, a port to wii will even have better controls (I belive that) but any other aspect of the game will be made to be as much similar as the HD version, the easiest example, cod  in single player relies much on the "cinematic" feel it gives, this can't obviously work as well as on wii. While in a game designed for the wii from the ground-up like Goldneye, game and level design are polished keeping on mind the wii capabilities, the resulty will be more probably better.

CoD was developed on the PC in the first place.  I don't know what they were thinking when they thought the game would work on the consoles.

Go play your cinematic feel.  I'd rather play a video game.

black ops will be the best of the bunch, but i'll also need to get one of the other two because of the multiplayer splitscreen.

Judging from what i've seen/read i'm buying The Conduit 2 over Goldeneye.

so for me it's Black Ops  and The Conduit 2

I'd rather too play the game,  in fact I'm not a big fan of the cod series... I just consider this point, since COD3 I haven't seen very notable differences in desing or gameplay mechanics while each new game gets a big graphical treatment to make the game look more realistic....also the 1st and 2nd cod were developed for PC, since the 3rd their attention has gone to PC and HD consoles equally because, it's a matter of fact, on consoles they can sell more.

Well games were cinematic before even 3D came along so it really isn't about the graphics but the work you put into your title.  Not sure if you've played Call of Duty 4 on Wii, it's the exact same game, with the same intense single player of the original, hell I own it on 360, PC and Wii cause I love that game so much.  I get the same thrill playing the Wii version cause it's a good story and made well, which goes back to my original point, graphic intensity doesn't mean anything if you're willing to put in the work.

Perfect example is this, The Conduit has a better engine that allows them to do effects you don't typically see in Wii titles, but that story just wasn't put together as well as Call of Duty 4, the levels while built from the ground up for Wii lacked imagination and style, while CoD4 had big scale, it was fun, and when you're into the action you don't think about little nitpicking things, it was just designed very well.  Then Call of Duty 4 had all the maps, all the modes, an online experience that was hacker free, etc and it turned out to be a better game in every way, the graphics were pleasing cause they had style, the controls were just as customizable, it had better online, and the gameplay was just as solid as it was on 360 or PC.

Well, it's not like there's a lead platform.  Each has their own development team, and the Wii has been slowly gaining more and more resources from Activision for CoD games.  MWR actually looked pretty good.  The story was terrible though, and I thought it actually detracted from the game itself.  I enjoyed WaW's single player much more, at least up until the Russian missions where it became much too sequenced.  Still, my favorite CoD was the first one.  They've gone down hill ever since.

You have a point, no I haven't played it, I had played COD3 on wii...and that was bad really. since I've heard not very reactions from friends about reflex I haven't bothered to try it myself, I've just seen some videos.... Yes the work you put in title is what count the most but Istill think that on equal "work-quality" you can make better games starting form the ground-up than porting titles from much-different platforms, maybe I just don't see the cod series much fitting with the wii "philosophy" of simple and fun....or I just find difficult to belive that the wii can give you the same illusion of realism as on PC, but if you say that the experience is a solid on PC I belive it.

PS.If somehow this comments gives you the idea to be wii-biased it's wrong, it's just a particular feeling I have with this game, wii is my favourite console of this generation.

Yeah I know I see you posting on the forums all the time so I know there is no anti Wii bias or something, just pointing a few things out.

As for illusion of realism... I really wouldn't say any version of the game gives you a real illusion of realism... CoD4 is just a military action flick in game form, a good one at that, and all versions give that feeling due to the story and action sequences in the game.

As for CoD3 Wii... yeah CoD3 was just bad all around anyway but make it with a low budget and poor controls... it made it even worse.  I remember playing the 360 for the first time and the first game I got to play was CoD3... man I was like "THIS IS SHIT!" I hated the game and found myself not really wanting a 360 at that point lol but with the success of WaW on Wii Activision has been giving Treyarch more money to make their Wii versions, one of the developers said that the budget and team for CoD4 Wii was much bigger than WaW so if the trend continues they could have a nice budget/team for Black Ops and could get even more of their ideas into the game.

(The guy stated because of the lack of time, not the Wii hardware's capabilities, they couldn't put in things like 4 player splitscreen like they wanted, they still haven't listed much about Black Ops so there's the possibility they have the time and the team to make it happen this year)
