Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda was pushed back to refine visual style, says Shigeru Miyamoto!

i love this new look, the screenshot a couple of pages back looks like its concept art (or maybe it is, but probably not) and that so many seem to be disappointed just makes it twice as sweet.

Twilite Princes had an amazing graphics style. Very soft lighting and beautiful colors.  A great mix of realism and fantasy land.

They're destroying Zelda by copying real world paintings.

What does that even mean? As opposed to fake world paintings? And how are they "copying"? And aren't all games based off of paintings, since pretty much every art style is, uh, can be found somewhere in some painting?

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

No, not all games are based on paintings. Only a few are, like Prince of Persia, Zelda Skyward Sword and a couple more (someone help me out here).

I trust in the Miyamoto's Judgement. If he thinks this is the best art style for the game, then I'm not going to doubt him.

Twilight Princess had a much darker story than previous Zelda games, so the art style fit perfectly. Though replicating that same art style into Skyward Sword might not fit its story.

I think we need to refrain from being pessimistic until we play the game. XD You can hate it as much as you want after you play it.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard all day. Visual styles are incapable of destroying the core Zelda experience, and impressionism is a fine style for the game.

You're not the kind of person who any actual fan of the series would go to for advice on it. You want the game to be Elder Scrolls!

Even more ridiculous than the guy who said Halo Reach's 1st month sales will be greater than GT5's LTD sales?

If Zelda becomes Elder Scrolls it will have a very uninspired art style.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Guys, the game controls sooooo damn good.  I don't care what it looks like.  The fact that it's very beautiful and has its own unique visual flavor is an added bonus.  I can't wait to see the more evil areas in the game, and how they use this style.

My only problem with it is the part where things are blending in too much with each other therefore making it a little boring to the eyes, but that's what the extra time is for, I'm sure they'll address that.

So the combat is fun is it?
