Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Hey, I just bought a Xbox 360, any recommend list for avoiding RRoD?

I know it is a risk investment, but I still bought it,since it can download Halo through XBLA..

I bought the Elite version with Forza Motorsport and MUA,ya BLACK for sure...

I have no idea what should i buy. Any recommend game for myself or my family or play with friends? Any game I should avoid to get RRoD, I heard that it is quite serious problem, oh and that scratch disk issue too...

While its on, dont put a blanket over it. Also at all costs, play the games with the unit standing up straight or down flat. Dont play it diagonally.

keep it in tho open(don't put it in a compact space), don't heat the house over 80 degrees F, and don't play it for more than 8 hours straight.

xbox 360, ps2 are my consoles

end of generation predictions: wii 106 million Xbox 360 59 million PS3 57 million

The scratch disc only happens if you big time move it (shove it etc) while the disc is in it. At least it did in the older model.

RROD just happens if you play for to long even then no on knows the cause. All i know is i dont play it for 10 hours strait, i take a break every 4 hours or so if i decide to have a huge day of gaming (then shoot myself in the foot cause i have to work it off the next day). Ive had my 360 since almost launch and no RROD and its only frozen up once or twice (ive had my ps2 do it more to me then my 360) so i must of gotten a good model

Halo 3, Call of duty, heck any of those for friends. In terms of family i think someone else can help you there dont know much.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Some of the newer 360's have the 65 nm chips. Make sure you bought that one.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the RRoD, so just play your console all you like and don't think about it. My 360 doesn't get used all that much, but I've already had two RRoD's for no apparent reason in the space of just over a year. My friend had gone away for several months and after coming back, the first time he turned on his system it RRoD'ed.

Hope for the best, and just enjoy your console without worrying too much about it. If it does have a hardware failure, they will fix it or replace it for the next three years.

Get the 2 year warranty or a store warranty is better. If you get it for a store like Best buy, they'll just give you a new system and you won't have to wait 3 weeks for Microsoft to fix it.

Completed XBLA: 16 / 32
Completed Retail: 17 / 64
GS Completion %: 82.63%

If you bought a newly produced Xbox 360, the chances of getting the RROD problem seem quite small (or zero?) from what I've been hearing.

IDK but if it happens put poop in ur consoles and then send it back to ms so when the unlucky bastard opens it he/she will know you dont like hard ware that sucks. At least thats what id do

@dabaus513:

Yeah, that'd be totally great for them to void the warranty due to abuse and leave you without a console that you paid hundreds of dollars for.
