Well if anyone is going to eat up the revival of the series in that way, I would expect Japan to be the one on board the most.  But I'm not sure if they'll be able to replicate that same success with DKCR as they did with New Super Mario Bros.  However, for some reason I think they'll see the most surprises from how well the American and European markets accept the product as this game will probably be their big holiday title.

I'm pretty sure the game wasn't developed in kamchatka.  Europe is the west.

O.T:This game will sells shittons, but it would have better potential to sell if DK had wavey or spikey hair and blue eyes ;)

If there's something I've learned from Japanese is that they are unpredictable, so it's possible. 

Donkey is a classic and loved franchise after all.

It could, NSMB Wii kind of started a 2D Renaissance  and Donkey Kong might get more sales off the back of that game, from its own quality and brand power.
