Forums - Sales Discussion - Realistically, how much of an impact will the new Twisted Metal have?

Don´t think it will do much, if it reaches 1 million then its good imo.

@Burgrimmer.

What, inFamous 2 will sell 2 million atleast.

It'll blow by 1m. The last console Twisted Metal (Black) easily passed 1m and it was a mature title without a lot of marketing, a heavily censored Europen version and no Japanese version.

The impact it will have is that it will be another quality exclusive game that is for the PS3,  adding to a good sized list of quality exclusives that are on the PS3.   It wont sell consoles but it doesnt need to.

I dont really think most get what twisted metal is to some people. To me it was the goldeneye of the psone. My friends and I would spend hours playing split screen twisted metal 2 for many summers. Its more of a nostalgia thing for me, just like them remaking goldeneye. So who cares if it moves consoles or doesnt sell alot, it will have a special place for those who grew up with it.

Twisted Metal is HUGE! All PS One fans want it.

It will sell over 2 million on US alone... this is amazing sales.

PS. The PS VGC sales is outdated and doesn't count Others and Japan after all.

I'm not a fan of bets... but I'm willing to make this one.

2 million just in United States? Really? Whenever you want to bet.

@andremop

I don't make bets... but wait and see... TM is a lot popular in US... but has bad or disappointing sales on Others.

And TM 2 for PS One sells over 2 million on US only.

Twisted Metal is the most addicting PlayStation game of my life. I remember playing it when I was a kid and the only reason I stopped was because the disc got too many scratches and it wouldnt load anymore ;_;. I was a kid and I thought once its gone -> Its gone. Never even thought of looking for it again. I got it from a friend and it was in a boxart called : Destruction Derby. I looked that up after a while because I only rememberd the box art but I noticed that that wasnt the game I loved :(. All the talk of Twisted Metal got me to search for it and BOY I am so fucking happy right now! GIEF ME TWISTED METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who care isf it improves sales the the couple million who love the game are happy and we will stop  bitching about it not being there.      Also new people will try it.   Its not just about sales people its also about fun.

I find it quite laughable really that people call it a big franchise. The last game sold in the 2m bracket with 140m consoles to sell to. It sold something like 200k outside the US

The game has had recent releases which people for some reason seem to be ignoring. It had in 08 Twisted Metal Head on Twisted Edition, and in 05 the orgional. The one in 08 got a mighty 73% on metacritic. Both combined didn't even get over a million units. The last proper TM was Black on the PS2 in 2001. A game that was excellent. It was better then the previous 4. But it bombed sales wise. The sales figures on here have it just over a million.

The game will probably sell 3m max if it get's bundled with a few consoles like Motorstorm was.

But it's sales don't matter, what matters is that it improves over the version they released 2 years ago as that sucked bad.

err...in case no one noticed, selling 2-3M makes it one of sony's biggest franchises...  just saying.

that and it's going to be amazing!

Obviously if you didn't think it was a big surprise, it's cause you're not a fan of the series.  For me that was a great finish and it was my favorite surprise of E3.
