Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is this still the Year for Xbox 360?

It didn't really interest me before but I may be buying God of War Collection and God of War 3 when things get slow.  In all honesty, games like Gran Turismo 5, Socom, and some of Sony's other big franchises don't really get my blood pumping.  I'll grab inFamous 2 if it comes out this year, too.  I did thoroughly enjoy Heavy Rain, though.  If I were to make a list of my top 10 games of this gen, that game would be near the top.

With the 360, I REALLY enjoyed Mass Effect 2 and I'm having a blast with Alan Wake right now.  Splinter Cell Conviction was fun but too short.  The Crackdown 2 demo was fun and I'll be grabbing Halo Reach (the only FPS  Franchise I care about at the moment--I didn't even buy MW2) when it comes out.  Kinect looks more like something I'd buy than Move but I'm still on the fence.

It's pretty close but I guess that so far, it is the 360's year.  Of course, the Wii is kicking both of their asses.  SMG2 and Metroid Other M are probably good enough to make me forget the other two consoles, entirely!

Year of 360?.........

Lol that was exactly what I thought when I read the Title.

Until now its definetly not the year of 360 maybe it can become the year of the 360 starting this week.

But from another perspective it could become the peak year for 360. All depends on the Slim 360 and Kinect.

I'm not counting Kinect for 2010 because its games look terrible. But even without it, the year is starting to look better for 360. Halo Reach, Dead Rising 2, Assassin's Creed Brotherhoood, Fallout New Vegas, Fable 3, and Crackdown 2 all look good. I also just traded in for the sleek new 360 at gamestop, I actually got $200 to use towards it, plus I made $40 off my fancy headphones. So really I'm only paying $60 for a brand new redesigned console, with a 12x bigger HDD.

Nothing can beat Wii's lineup this year though, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Goldeneye, Epic Mickey, Kirby's Epic Yarn, DAMN..

It's Wii>>>>>>>>>>360>>>>>PS3 for 2010, or at least the rest of 2010.

It's all personal preference, for me It's the year of the Wii for sure. I'm far more excited about the Wii's lineup than I am for the 360 and PS3 lineup. The Wii is just going to be too much fun this year.

I am fairly sure the console makers (Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft) make more profit from selling hardware than software. So what has already been stated about the 360 Slim and Kinect topping the Amazon sales charts, then I would believe the execs over at Microsoft are quite happy and hope it continues into the holiday season.

Software unless it is first party has middlemen, namely the game developer. Seeing as most of the games on PS3 and Xbox 360 are multi-platform, then it would come down to exclusives, which we will not know who won well until January 2011.

I would give a tentative yes, this is the year of the 360 because the 3DS has been confirmed by Reggie on the Late Night Show to not be released until 2011. Regardng Sony, unless they do another $25 to 50 price cut on the PS3, I just don't see them selling as many PS3s compared to the Xbox 360 Slim.

Many people have called 2010 the year of xbox 360. Well in 2010 so  far xbox 360 had alan wake and Splinter cell. But later in 2010 there will be an xbox 360 slim, crackdown 2, fable 3, halo reach, and finally kinect. Is it still the year of xbox 360. On the software side the wii and ps3 have more exclusives. However on amazon the new xbox 360 slim is number one and kinect in the top 25 even with a $150 price tag. Also we all know halo reach will sell a lot and call of duty always seem to do better on xbox 360.  What do you guys think?

The 360 so far has had Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell. The only good game was Mass Effect 2 though, but they still have Ninety-Nine Nights 2, Crackdown 2, Halo and Fable 3 (The only two I care about there are Ninety-Nine Nights 2 and Halo it any at all). Microsoft will end the year of 2010 very well, but 2011 will be extremely rough. Sony will have massive world response though when GT5 hits. Sony has LBP2, Socom 4 and GT5, DC Universe still left so yes Microsoft had the stronger year. Sony will still sell more PS3's though. 2011 belongs to Sony in the end.

Actually, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell are both good games.

That's your opinion not his, if he dislikes those games he is entitled to think so.

What about Mass effect 2?

I think this is the year for Xbox 360. Going to get most of the exclusive games.

Its not, but by saying: "actually are good games" it sounded like you state it as fact. But thats my mistake, i guess it meant actually i think they are good games. Carry on nothing to see here :P
