"The 3DS really seems awesome, but am I the only one who is concerned about 3D visuals that only work within a certain sweetspot and motionsensors that basically invite developers to have the device be moved around?

It seems like a pretty big contradiction in hardware design, unless you limit it to movement where the player follows or make players turn off 3D."

That's a pretty legitimate concern. I already feel that the DS form factor is poorly suited to tilt games. It's not as well-balanced as a unibody design like that of the iPhone/iPod Touch.

But frankly, I don't care if the 3D display turns out to be incompatible with motion controls. There's still a wide world of possibilities to explore with that one avenue closed.

It actually got me thinking that developers won't try to do tilt controls, which is a big plus for me!

Maybe Nintendo planned it all along? Dun dun dun...

As soon as they showed the features and the capabilities of the 3Ds, I literally was waving my arms around screaming "I want one, I want one, I want one."

So yes.

At first, I was meh, but then:

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I wonder if Shin Megami Tensei will be a remake of the actual first SMT...

So I want one mainly for the 3rd party support as usual. But interested in the 3D camera too, as well as in the media capabilities.

Still, I haven't even seen one for real yet and there is no price - while I'll definitely have one sooner or not much later, something close to day 1 isn't a certainty yet.

If you mean Nintendo planned to give developers as wide a range of input options as possible, so that individual projects could pick and choose which hardware features best suited their game and discard the rest, then I'm sure Nintendo did plan it all along.

I was talking about a scheme to avoid tilt controls, but yours is good too.

Handled, nintendo games, 3rd party games, good graphix, free-glasses 3D, some media capabilies....this is the ultimate console for me, I have already virtually bought one.

I want one because it will have crapload of srpg and jrpg plus whole backlog of ds games.

3d is nice bonus, acceleration and tilting i don't care.

I was quite sure I would be buying a 360 this holiday, but after the poor showing with Kinect, and the rather outstanding showing with the 3DS, I think I'll have to shift my priorities.

Yeah I'm buying one, but I'll wait for a better model with a larger screen I think. That's an outstanding launch lineup though.
