People are excited about DKC because it's exactly what we wanted and it simply looked amazing. It's not like Nintendo is decieving us into getting hyped for an "unworthy" game in an evil plan to cash on us while we suffer with a dull product.

You have every right to be unimpressed, but it's obvious why it got all the props.

Still the question has to be asked why Nintendo couldn't have been as innovative as they were last year when they had both a 3d platformer and a 2d platformer?  Surely many fans would have liked a new 3d platformer from Nintendo just as much as a new 2d platformer.

Limited resources? Really, look at all the games coming from Nintendo this year, so what if there are two 2D platformers while they didn't offer us a new 3D platformer. They just realeased Super Mario Galaxy 2, which was largely lauded as best 3D platformer EVER, and DKC will come this same year, on the holydays. It's not like nitnendo neglected part of it's fanbase or anything, it's just the direction they went with this game.

Besides, again, taht's what people wanted in the first place. They can do whatever they want afterwards, but people have expected for a DKC return for so long now. It's also not like every platforming franchise has to embrace 3D gameplay either, or like it's more worthy or something.

You seem to be confusing innovation with preference. There's nothing innovative about making Kirby or Donkey Kong in 3D. It's been attempted. 3D platformers altogether aren't innovative just for being 3D. It's not 1996 anymore. Frankly I can't see how Donkey Kong in 3D or Kirby in 3D could be more innovative just for being in 3-dimensions as opposed to the heaping of innovation Kirby Epic Yarns currently is. I don't even give a crap about Kirby and I'm itching to try that out.

I don't understand all the props for DKC.  It's just a 2d game trying to pay off for Nintendo like Super Mario Bros. Wii did last year.  And the same with Kirby.

One of those games, at the least, and preferably, in my opinion, the new Donkey Kong, especially since it's from Retro Studios, should have been more of a retooling of that series more  on Galaxy's magnitude.

I was unimpressed.

The props for DKC were for it being a return to form.  Kirby has a stunning aesthetic, and we've always known Kirby Wii would be a 2D platformer anyway.

I don't see the problem though.  If Sony and MS can each shovel out multiple shooters within several months, why's it suddenly an issue if Nintendo has 2 platformers?

We've already had a 3d Donkey Kong game...and it didn't work out very well. This is the right decision and the right direction for the franchise.

5/5 HUGE E3 show this year!

Great presentation. I really didn't see any single announcement that would make people jump out of their seats, but that's a good thing. Instead Nintendo managed a spectacular overall conference. It was well paced. Just as I was getting bored of watching one demo they stopped(unlike Sony conference where some of there game demos ran way to long for a demonstration). The game line up is a solid upstream titles with some bridge titles in there. As a presentation they managed to keep the flow of interesting games right along the entire time.

I feel that Nintendo's weakest point was that there were no games targeted for the downstream. Though Nintendo might be attempting to upstream the market now.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

There was Wii Party, Just Dance 2 and (to a lesser extent) Mario Sports Mix.  Unless you mean 3DS, in which case it was all pretty purely aimed at the core and lapsed.
