Forums - Microsoft Discussion - XBOB Slim: Do not move console when disc is in motion

How are they going to knock it over? don't you keep it on a shelf or in an entertainment center. And with kinect there are no cords to trip on on. PLus the xbox has breakaway cables or wireless, so what is there to trip on? Sure if you keep you xbox in the middle of the floor you may have problems, but that is also just a bad idea especially with kids.

Don't regular 360's do this? my normal 360 puts small cirular niks on some of my games.

Why would anyone want to move a console while playing a game? :|

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Please, elaborate more on these "many ways."

If Kinect will be the reason for the console being moved around, then the 360 needs to be positioned in a better place. It's common logic. You don't see people with Wii's playing too close to the console.... well, I hope not at least! ;)

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

To be fair the Wii is smaller, less likely to get hit and comes with a vertical stand, yet I've seen a kid knock one, and my own Wii has been knocked by my cat. No disc scratching problems there. These things can happen rather randomly. MS fixed this problem in older 360s, so why's it back?

It's not solely a MS thing as my older fat PS2 had disc scratching issues, but this gen MS are the only ones with this easily fixable flaw.

Why are some of you Xbox 360 owners discounting the fact that consoles sometimes get moved for accidental reasons and there is nothing wrong with a little extra precaution?  It really looks like we are getting more trolling out of 360 owners than PS3 owners due to insecurity of their love for a console.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

The only issue I'm seeing with the re-designed unit is that they clearly have a problem that was PREVIOUSLY FIXED with the earlier models.

I did a few tests myself on an Xbox manufactured 08/08/2007, doing the same orientation change while a DVD was spinning in the tray and nothing happened. The second generation (Zephyr) units on used DVD drives with rubber bumper guards on the lens assembly, preventing the lens to disc contact that causes the radial scratches.

As far as I know, the only 360s that had the scratch problem were the original Xenon units.

So if someone has a Falcon or a Jasper that's scratched discs because they moved the console severely (not talking about jumping up and down near the entertainment console here: I mean flip the console over or give it a 90 degree vertical to horizontal turn) then it could be said that the 360 ALWAYS had this problem, but I don't think this is the case and MS may have taken a step backwards with the redesigned units in the OEM DVD drives they sourced.

I love M$ fanboys. They defend a console that is far underpar than the Ps3. I mean just look at it. Step back from everything and match the pros and cons of each console.

From what I see the Ps3 beats xbox in free subscription, any size hard drive, SLIM, power supply inside, no heating issues, no RROD (very low "YLOD"), no disk fuckups, blueray, more variety in any other game genre except shooters (lol halo derp, gears of war derp, call of duty derp), etc, etc.

Xbox finally caught up on built in wifi! Congrats Xbox, buy you need to pay the same price. Oh and before that they added HDMI! Where as Sony got it all in one. Oh and yeah don't pull out the better social experience because we all know how many 12 year old you hear whine in every game.

Great, so enjoy your PS3, and don't worry about the fact that we prefer another console.

its always been like that, my NFS-MW messed up like that.
