25% price reduction certainly won't hurt.

once halo reach comes out it will sell consoles. also kinect will bring a portion of the wii audience who want to get into HD gaming or those wii owners who are just getting old enough to play more mature games. Black ops will move more 360s than ps3s also so i think that MS will beat sony for the rest of 2010 at the very least.

i dont think the reason 360 sales have been low/getin beat by ps3 from PS3 slim launch on is b/c consumers new about 360S

new 360S is still 299 it will get some sales when launched to people upgrading but not big explosion sales like slim i believe NA and some EU markets are already saturated by 360

a 149 360S would cause some kinda sales explosion when REACH release but i have a feeling this gen will last till 2013-14 so i think theyll price it at 199 instead of 149 meaning prices between the 2 will be the same as last year meaning that PS3 should have the upper hand sales wise

both HD sales should be good though as theres a lot of good AAA SW coming

I voted yes and that ONLY depends if Microsoft releases awesome bundles during the holiday season combined with the release of Natal.  If so then they might have bought themselves second place for another year at least.  Maybe even two years if Natal's pricing is just right ( no more than $100 ) and it takes off better than PS Move.

It will make a difference, but how big of a difference depends on Kinect, game lineup, bundles, and competition.

I am somewhat doubtful of Kinect's impact, but I agree that a good pricing can change things.

Microsoft usually has good lineups and bundles so there should not be much to worry about.

Nintendo seems to be picking up the pace recently. Not too sure about Sony.

all the price cut can do is help sales. and the slim will certainly not hurt either

there's nothing microsoft can do to spark a sales increase like sony have the 360 is dying like the PSP. It's crying out for a decent funeral paid for by the state :P Seriously though just look at it, it's looks are just plain ugly compared to the other two, it's new found features in this redesign are well nothing new and the games are now long in the tooth when it comes to system sellers there isnt any left. CoDMWII proved this

While it's not a huge indicator of sales it does give us a good idea where sales are headed.  Since the announcment of Kinect and the new model the top 3 best seller spots on amazon have been, 12 month x box live, Kinect, and the new xbox slim model. 

Nothing offical of course, but if it remains this way for the rest of the month, it would indicate a positive trend for MS sales.

it's a good strategy and it might work for the short term. on the other hand the new model will probably make sells equal to that of PS3 for the moment.

as for the new model long term! im going to wiat and see what it sells in august and go from there.

I think the price cut on older models will make a difference until they clear stock on the older models, but once the new slim becomes their only model it will hurt them because they will lose their biggest advantage to the PS3 which was a model that was a whole lot cheaper than the PS3's cheapest model which the arcade was $100 cheaper than the PS3 slim and why release a console the same price as your competitors with less features, so in the long run i feel they will be hurt
