Well...

Developer's leaving. Staged demo. Lack of "Quality" software. Huge rumored pricing.

I hope they have some great games to show at the real conference.

This is the problem for MS and Sony...  if they show 'wii-like' games then they are copying.... if they show more hardcore games where motion is an option then the reaction will be whats the point?

They have to be innovative in software to satisfty some people and I dont see how they can be....

Yep. It's also the advantage that Sony have over MS on this one, as IMO at least, it's a lot easier to make games using a controller with buttons and such than it is without one.

Sports Champions and Kinect Sports have already had the "copying" card played at them. But hey, it's not exactly like NIntendo CREATED the genre, so it's easy enough to combat.

The lightsaber game could have proven to be REALLY big, but it seems to be an on-rails :/

They can at least try. Sony is adding Move support to LBP2, so players can create custom motion control setups for their levels, and that has me excited.

The possibilities are there, they just need to be found.

I'm going to work anyway.

Hopefully by tonight when i get back online, something good has happened

Kinect can foresee gamer movements confirmed

absolutly ridiculous

I'm inclined to think that this is just a part of the game where the character on screen moves automatically  as part of  a reaction to the downed ship... happens in all games, the fact that the guy copies this move is co-incidental.

i.e. the fight is over and it is changing to a short in game "movie"

No surprise here that you are defending Natal main event, considering your history of pro MS posts. But you should really step back and see what is the universal oppinion of the press. Even Xbox exclusive press said that the show was fiasco. And when the "actor" tryies to copy the onscreen movement, the only thing that comes to mind is that he was supposed to. Natal might work very well, but it's far far from what MS made it sound to be.

The presentation was an epic flop and definatelly didn't spark any interest in the gaming community, MS and Natal are laughing stock right now and unless they really do pull of some serious improvements, Natal might be the last nail in MS coffin this generation.

True... but Sony will need to think of a game that is innovative, this despite the fact that their controllers are essentially the wii controllers.  In other words Sony has to think of some uses of the wii controllers that nintendo havent thought of?   Now can Sony afford their first party developers to spend lots of time on this at the expense of their games for more traditional controllers to force some adoption of the new hardware or will they be happy with wii ports from 3rd party?

I'm not hopeful that either MS or Sony can innovate in software here... I'm happy to get natal becuae I want to say "xbox on" and navigate my menus by waving a hand... sad as that sounds! lol.

See that what They should have focused there show about. What you just said there. That should have been the only focus Natal should have had in the presentation.

They would sell more of it just on taking the focus on that alone. Thats why i thought Ms had the advantage over Sony.

The sad part is that it's the part I'm most excited about with Kinect right now. It does look damn awesome though, but Microsoft better get some good games out...

even if He likes MS , his post wasn't fanboyish and wasn't really defending, it made sense. No need to personal attack in an official thread.

Your post had a bit of credibility until the last sentence gave you away...

I didnt realise MS where in the coffin and all but one nail was hammered home... get a grip.  Ms are still doing fine and having just passed 40m (which many here thought impossible) with a profitable console are very happy right now.  Ms is building a brand, slowly but surely. Xbox is a very strong  brand in the US now and is on the map everywhere bar Japan.  Next gen they will build on that more.  I expect Xbox to be at least the number 2 brand again in the US next gen above Playstation.

Come back to me after the main show later... and tell me if you still think that MS are dead and buried.

Gave away what? That is some serious paranoia you have going on there...

MS is losing ground quickly, be it sales or popularity wise, PS3 launched later and sells better than Xbox did during the same period since release. It's more and more obvious that the PS3 is the stronger piece of hardware out of the HD twins and hasn't been maxed yet, while the Xbox might've peaked 2 years ago (I'm still waiting for a proof that Gears 2 wasn't be most XBox is capable of). Natal was supposed to keep XBox out there for another 5 years (or atleast that's what MS exec were boasting about prior to E3).

So yes, that looks like a "coffin" to me. I'm not implying that the XBox was fiasco, but at this point, it's pretty much heading towards end of it's cycle. So the last nail to the coffin is pretty good analogy imho.

@sadman What are you on? What gave you the idea of personal attack? Can I have some?

I'm a big Kinect supporter and yes that presentation was lame. Microsoft needs to step up and bring better content. I don't expect to see innovative games using Kinect under a year of course so I won't join all the haters that believe that just because a presentation was badly handled that the product itself has no cedibility. I too would've left the room like Itagaki did if I was there. The device works, now give it time. A camera itself doesn't make good games, devs behind it do so give them time.

That Star Wars gif is hilarious though.
