...as for my opinion about the looks of this thing, I think it doesn't look ugly, and it doesn't look very cool either. I think it's about average. It certainly doesn't look any worse than the PS3 slim did.

I'm more interested in how it plays.

Well, I'm not sure you have enough information to make that assumption, but know this. It is not a big leap to assume that most people on this forum are biased, nor is it a big leap to assume if would affect their opinion on an ink blot test like this one.

However, it is a huge death-defying leap of logic to assume that this system sacrafices anything for the sake of looking cool. For all you know, it's desined the way it is for airflow or other structural reasons.

Now, you don't HAVE to be biased to believe this thing looks ugly, but it helps.

I would suggest toning down on the generalizations.  There have been a few bannings in this thread for it already, and its a direction the thread really doesn't need to go.

The assumption of what?  That it's ugly? That is sacrifices ergonomics for the sake of looking "cool"? That's not an assumption! Neither of those are assumptions!

Microsoft has never, ever, ever designed a console or hardware in general for the sake of ergonomics. It has been image 100% of the time. There is nothing ergonomic about this design, but it is "cool" in the same sense that the 360 was - which means it won't look good in any entertainment center.

Not to trash on the thing, I can acknowledge that the thing is ugly without htinking that it's bad. Most systems are ugly! Few aren't. I just hope that slim redesigns are like from DS Phat to DSLite - from ugly to sexy.

What microsoft has going for it, is the US.. it can hurt the ps3's brand image there once again. Just relese 100 gazillion 360 ads and they are set.

Do you really think that's a fact?

What and how, exactly is sacraficed, for the sake of looks in the new console, then, since you're so knowledgable. I've got another question, was anything sacraficed for funcationality? I mean, did they increase the heat on the inner console in order to add the side divits to make it look cool? Since you aren't making an assupmtion, and since you know for a fact exactly how and why this thing was designed this way, maybe you can shed some light for me.

Please explain. Note: Past experiences with other consoles are not evidence and they are also opinion.
