Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Could Microsoft have a bigger announcement than Natal??

Source says yes.

So what do you think that it could, should, would, or will be?

Some have mentioned the revised xbox (unlikely imo) with included wifi! You know you would buy a new xbox if it had wifi included!

Seems like E3 is taking forever to get here.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Interesting...I'm not sure how you would qualify that statement though you know?  I mean, that could mean different things to different people.

Regardless, as a fan of the 360, I'm definitely interested in watching the MS press conference... bring it on!

I just want them to release info on a slimmed down model so I can buy one.

It will be one awesome E3 all around (or at least it better be)

I think the announcement will be HULU on the 360. But I hope for a SLIM 360.

I think a 360 slim announcement is guaranteed, and depending on the features/price could be bigger than Natal of last year.  Also, an Xbox Portable handheld console would be awesome.

Lets think about how MS makes money in videogames.

selling hardware? no

3D TV's? no

online subscriptions? yes

MS will probably make more money if they get bonus of 1 million new xbox live members to sign up due to a new service than they would by selling 1 million new 360's due to a slim model.

Its not dramatic, but it works for them. They of course need to have announements which helps keep 360 sales up in its 5th year, but I wouldn't expect anything dramatic.

Yes, they make profit on 360 hardware and accessories as well as Zune hardware.

1 million new 360's due to slim model = more software and software is another place where MS makes a lot of their money.

Also, more 360's sold due to slim = more Xbox Live subscriptions.

Not really. 1 million more xboxes sold, 2/3 of which already own a 360 but want a slimmer model. If people want an xbox to buy games or go on xbl, why do they need a slim model to persuade the buyer to do this?

xbox 360 now $100!

*two year xbl subscription required.
