Forums - General Discussion - Why is'nt soccer more popular in America.

They dont like it because watching this world cup, they will think it is boring as hell.

And going by this world cup, they are absolutely spot on.

who cares why dont they like it? its their loss. they are in minority. we (football fans) are in huge majority. so our opinnion is more important .no one would really give a crap if there was a rugby world cup (i dont think anyone else plays it besides americans), but the entire world is interested in football world cup. again, its their loss, i hope they have fun watching their favourite sport...

Sorry to break it to you, but being in the majority doesn't mean that your opinion is more important.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I like american football and basketball

but I gotta say there is probably no sport where  the crowd is as crazy as in soccer

the fans at a football and baseball game are only eating and chatting

(rugby is too sick , it's like american football soccer and ultimate fighting combined)

You know the US had 24.4 Millions of soccer players according to a study made by FIFA in 2006. That's 4 years ago, i don't think its unpopular anymore. Its a pity to read all those stupid comments, you guys probably haven't seen a match, sad because the US team is pretty good.

You haven't actually ever been to an NFL game have you? I can tell you that is definitely not the case.

FYI...

England V. USA drew 17.1 Million in Nielson ranks.  Which are good, even more people likely watched because Nielson ratings always underplay sporting events due to them not taking into good account things like parties and bars.

Viewership is up 80% over the 2006 for the first round in general.

As a comparison... the first 6 games of the NBA finals averaged 16.4 Million.

World Cup actually beat most of the basketball finals.

Another comparison... a Regular American Football Playoffs game pulls about 36 Million.

So a ways to go yet.

Well, I clicked on the link and I must say I don't agree with any of those high-brow generalizations.  My theory is that, as a kid, you only need a little space and some friends to play football.  You only need a ball and a hoop to play basketball.  You only need a ball and a bat and a few friends to play baseball.  Who the hell carries around two soccer goals?  The only guy I knew that did that was Soccerball Larry and we always made fun of him for being retarded.

You're joking, roght? One of the main reasons why Soccer is so popular with the young crowd is because it's so cheap and easy to play ANYWHERE.

Kids use a couple of rocks to make the goalies, and that's it. If your shot goes in between those rocks, you score. Simple. They can use pretty much anything to make the goalies, from mounts of sand (which people do when they play soccer in the beach), to rocks, to whatever is at hand.

The only thing people need to play soccer is a ball, and an open area (no matter how small).

Hell, even if there isn't enough space, you can still play penalties (fun too), or some other variants, such a futevolley (soccer-volleyball hybrid)

on the internet, it does.

And thats the way we choose our presidents today, (in most countries) with the voice of majority

It's because they don't understand the rules:
