Choosing to lead on PlayStation 3 for the development of Vanquish has been "a success," says superstar designer, Shinji Mikami.
Speaking to CVG recently, the Platinum Games man said his team had no choice but to lead on Sony's platform after the bodged PS3 version of Bayonetta, and the move's turned out to be the right decision.
"I think that making the PS3 the lead platform during development was a success for us," Mikami told CVG. "At the start, we didn't have PS3 production experience, so I think that this was really the only choice we had."
Earlier this year the Resident Evil creator explained the decision, stating: "The team know less about making games for PS3 than Xbox 360, so we thought the sensible thing to do was to make the game on PS3 first then move it over to Xbox.
"If we can get Vanquish to a certain standard on PS3, we can make Xbox the same," he said.
Leading on PS3 has worked in the past of course, and you only have to look at flawless PS3 and 360 versions of Burnout Paradise to see it. Taking note,Rockstar?
If only because it's the spiritual successor to Resident Evil 4, Mikami's Vanquish is very promising indeed. See the game in action via the firstVanquish gameplay footage.
