DO NOT buy a laptop from ASUS.

Forums - PC Discussion - DO NOT buy a laptop from ASUS.

My ASUS Laptop broke after 2 1/2 years of use... strangly my 2001 Sony VAIO still works fine... (at least after I repaired it twice because a certain somebody (*cough* me) let it drop on the floor) but one of the 2 USB Ports broke in 2007

buy an Ipad. lol

Thanks for the heads up OP

Speaking of laptops, does anyone recommend a good brand to buy?

Don't look for a brand you have to go into notebook forum and read there about the model you want. Then all the faults like overheating , bad quality etc can be found.

Personally I have one of asus ultra thin UL series and i'm very happy with it.

So after COUNTLESS problems with my ASUS G71 laptop i bought last september Bestbuy decided to replace my laptop. I Now have an Asus G73. However i just got it today and im experiencing one of the exact same problems as i had with the last one. My battery will not charge. When i plug in my AC adapter it will register and say 95% Available (Plugged in Not charging)

Ive tried everything and it still will not work. Like i said before my last computer from ASUS had this exact same problem and i ended up having to send it in to them to get it repaired. This is absolutely Ridiculous this is the second BRAND NEW $1200 laptop i have bought from ASUS that has crapped out on me within 3 Months.

DO NOT buy a laptop from ASUS. I love their Motherboards and have never had problems with them but their laptops are TERRIBLE build quality.

I Did get this laptop working actually. I ended up flashing the BIOS and that seems to have fixed the problem. Lets hope this continues to hold up. *fingers crossed

****UPDATE****: On July 5, 2010 This very same laptop had its Graphics card fry. I RMA'd it to ASUS who replaced the whole motherboard. I recieved my laptop back from them on July 19th. NOW ON JULY 21 while typing an Essay i got a GSOD (grey screen of Death) signifying the GPU has again fried. and they want me to send it in for repair AGAIN!!

This is absolute Bull shit. Every single laptop from them that i have owned has lasted NO MORE THAN 1 MONTH before breaking. This happens over and over again and im fed up with it and i Advise you all to NOT buy a laptop from them

it may nto be proble, sony vaios have a feature u can turn on, that u can only charge to 80%  that prevent the cells from damaging while  charging to fulll and it really works. by battery last as new more than year old.

asus may have copied the trick.

as far laptops asus toshiba and sony vaios are the best.

sony service its neat, i spilled juice in my keyboard they fixed it for free, i had to pay the new keyboard though lol

All my laptops are from Acer. Never had really big problems with any of them.

You should have bought a thinkpad.

Yea, pretty much Thinkpads (T series and above) or Macbook Pros.

Hell no, screw Macbooks. They're overpriced like hell, and you can get better PC laptop for half the price.

The best brands I've heard and tried are Toshiba and ASUS, especially Toshiba.

as ive told you before, ive also had problems with asus, but with my computer screen, I think its just best to stay clea rof them guys, theres other brand sout there.
