Forums - PC Discussion - DO NOT buy a laptop from ASUS.

So after COUNTLESS problems with my ASUS G71 laptop i bought last september Bestbuy decided to replace my laptop. I Now have an Asus G73. However i just got it today and im experiencing one of the exact same problems as i had with the last one. My battery will not charge. When i plug in my AC adapter it will register and say 95% Available (Plugged in Not charging)

Ive tried everything and it still will not work. Like i said before my last computer from ASUS had this exact same problem and i ended up having to send it in to them to get it repaired. This is absolutely Ridiculous this is the second BRAND NEW $1200 laptop i have bought from ASUS that has crapped out on me within 3 Months.

DO NOT buy a laptop from ASUS. I love their Motherboards and have never had problems with them but their laptops are TERRIBLE build quality.

I Did get this laptop working actually. I ended up flashing the BIOS and that seems to have fixed the problem. Lets hope this continues to hold up. *fingers crossed

****UPDATE****: On July 5, 2010 This very same laptop had its Graphics card fry. I RMA'd it to ASUS who replaced the whole motherboard. I recieved my laptop back from them on July 19th. NOW ON JULY 21 while typing an Essay i got a GSOD (grey screen of Death) signifying the GPU has again fried. and they want me to send it in for repair AGAIN!!

This is absolute Bull shit. Every single laptop from them that i have owned has lasted NO MORE THAN 1 MONTH before breaking. This happens over and over again and im fed up with it and i Advise you all to NOT buy a laptop from them

Ok, got it.

Tease.

Glad I got a Dell then... oh wait, I forgot my GPU usually overheats for no reason because their first batches of M1530 have random issues! I had to buy a cooling fan, and it did it wayyy before I started overclocking this stuff. About overclocking a laptop, call me mad or something!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

Yea, this is the first time i've heard not to buy an asus. I have  never had one, but I usually hear good things about them. Sorry to hear your having problems hopefully they can sort them out for you

I have an Asus X5AV for over a year and a half and it hasn't given me any kind of issues. Also, it's been the most reliable laptop I've ever had. I've burned through a Toshiba Satellite 100-400P and a HP before this one.

I'm sorry for your bad luck, but your experience with any laptop isn't an indicative of how a brand of laptops perform overall. And no, their laptops are not of terrible quality. If you want terrible quality, buy an Acer

I've had zero problems with my M1530, though the HDD clicking noise first scared me the first few times

Its funny you should mention ACER. I have an old acer laptop that i bought about 5 years ago that still runs just fine!!! Haha i dont use it much as ive bought 2 laptops since then but it still does indeed work with 0 problems! Haha :P Which makes my problems all the more baffling!!! I used to LOVE ASUS but now im really starting to question their laptops reliability.

Same, i'm using a £800 Acer Laptop now and have had no problems what so ever.

I don't know if I agree. One should avoid entry level laptops no matter what the brand.

If you buy a 400 dollar Dell, HP, Toshiba, emachines...it will suck. Asus is no different.

I know people with higher end Asus laptops (my gf) and they have very little issues with it.

It's at 95% charge? That's kind of odd....

On my macbook, and I'm assuming all macbooks, the charger won't actually charge your battery up to 100% as long as it's 95% or higher. But as long as you have it plugged in, the charge will never go down. That means it could stay at 96% charge forever, unless you unplug it and it goes down to 94%. At 94% and below the charger will start charging the battery all the way up to 100%.

Have you checked to see if this is the case for your laptop? Biiiiiiig face palm coming up if it turns out to be true. ^_^
