Forums - Gaming Discussion - What are your top most dissapointing series sequels?

Grrrrr!

Alundra 2 and Chrono Cross were some really fantastic games for their time.

A disappointing sequel can be a bad game, but it's not always the case.  Alundra 2 was passable and Chrono Cross was legitimately great imo, but both were also still disappointing sequels.

Modern Warfare 2 Breath of Fire 5: Dragon Quarter (why?) Arc The Lad: End of Darkness Street Fighter 4 King Of Fighters 12 Final Fantasy 10, 11, 12, 13 (kinda)

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I'd agree, Dragon Quarter was a terrible Breath of Fire sequel.  It was daring, innovating, challenging and basically everything that the samey banal milquetoast BoF games weren't.

Give me Dragon Quarter II...

Final Fantasy XIII

Red faction guerrilla

Prince of persia 2008

Call of Duty 3

Call of Duty: World at War

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Doom 3

Empire: Total War (still a great game, but has nothing on Rome)

Resident Evil 5

Peace Walker /just/ came out. And you ignored Portable Ops. I refuse to believe you played and beat MGS: Peace Walker, disliked it, and yet loved Portable Ops.

Don't be a troll.

Yoshi's Island DS is probably my biggest disappointment so far this generation. It's not that it was a bad game, but compared to the brilliance of the first game... it was a big disappointment. Never let Artoon touch it again.

Resident Evil 5 was a pretty big disappointment for me as well. Again, not a bad game... but it just wasn't that great of a game. And the Resident Evil series is a great series. The final battle was a complete joke as well.

Super Paper Mario has Paper Mario in its name... but it's not the RPG series we know and love. But it's also not the platformer we know and love. It's something... in between. Unfortunately it really doesn't know what it wants to be.

Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike

Suikoden IV (and the rest of the Suikoden games that followed)

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life (and the rest of the Harvest Moon games that followed)

Children of Mana (and the rest of the Mana games that followed)

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (and the rest of the Castlevania games that followed; sensing a pattern?)

Pokemon Battle Revolution

Super Paper Mario

Sim City 4

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Let's be honest, Sword of Mana shat the bed first.  Or even Legend of Mana really.
