Forums - General Discussion - Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" Video...

Might I ask who directed it?

Becuase often the real people behind these vidoes aren't the stars at all, yet they get all the props for something they probably had very little to do with.

Steve Klein.

I really respect her.

She is incredibly talented.

Well I see here overwhelming dislike for this video... I actually like it, because I understood the message the first time, and because it is really different artistically from what is done nowadays in pop culture... At least she didn't cut the song in pieces like she did in "Telephone".

5:08 her best take

I admit it's at least "interesting" and artistic by pop music standards, but it still sucks :P

Must have been hard to hide the penis in those skimpy clothes.

In all seriousness I didn't like the video or the song at all, but then I don't really like Lady Gaga at all either. Still, this was even below my general distaste for her.

Well, I'm waiting for the second album (The Fame Monster being a reedition) and see if she can build upon her reputation. Her career can fall with the second album or being confirmed as a true pop artist.

But then again, she's really refreshing. I think people were hating Madonna years ago. And look how she is respected now.

Atleast her songs are good fodder for parody.

The only message I got from this video:

I need to get tested.

Her lyrics are getting stupider, she's getting more naked, and her videos are focusing more and more on orgies.  Seems like her attention grabs are getting more desperate.  Maybe she's worried that somebody, somewhere, might forget about her for a single fucking second.

Every time she says "Alle-alle-jandro" I can only hear "olly-olly-oxen-free" and I think of kids playing hide and seek.

And she CAN'T DANCE AT ALL.  She normally dances with a big crew but for some reason they decided to give her solo dance sections in this video, and it was more embarrassing than usual.

She's basically like Gwen Stefani's solo stuff, but marketed towards gay men.  I don't see a single new idea in that song or that video or in her career.

And I just have to respond to that gagadaily quote Leo-J posted.  This one: "I am just knocked out that in 2010, one of the world's most significant artists is aready and willing to revisit Weimar Germany and the awakening of 20th century European Facisim."

That is the stupidest thing I've read all week.  This person was knocked out that an artist today is "ready and willing to revisit" something?  The key word there is "revisit."  'Cuz it's been done.  There are physically tons of art about Weimar Germany and the rise of fascism.  Or have you guys not seen like... say... any art of the 20th century?  Have you already forgotten Michael Jackson's fascist fashions and military dance routines?  But he could dance and choreograph dance moves like there was no tomorrow.  Saying art about the rise of fascism is rare is like saying art about the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are hard to come by.  Major historical events inspire art, mmmkay?  Lady Gaga is "art" for people who have never seen art.  If you watch just a little MTV here and there, I can understand how she'd blow you away.  But if you've seen any art made between the years 1900 and 2000, you've seen everything Lady Gaga has to offer.
