Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Reasons why i believe natal will be a success.

One reason I think it will be a big success is because of the fitness factor.  Natal will be far superior to WiiBoard.  The freedom from the board to track exercisers will be a huge benefit.  Wii Board really doesnt work very well with more intense exercises. I think this will lead to the people that want an interactive exercise tool to move from the Wii to the 360 with Natal.  Now that means I expect one of the titals this fall to be a Natal fitness title.   The should even bundle it with Natal.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

And to those thinking Natal is going to have something for gamers, well...Don't forget that Natal's conference is rated for all audiences, so....

Do you mean the expectations of some core gamers or of the casuals that Microsoft is primarily aiming this at?  I'm asking because both groups have different expecations and the former group is far smaller than the latter.

seriously the latest video has shown us natal is bringing nothing new over eyetoy, and thanks to technology advancements now you can look even more retarded, this will be a gimmick and will sell loads at first but it will drop off after we all have had a good laugh at it

I can see why gesture and voice recognition would be great advancements to have in the home. its just i didnt buy a console for that, and i'm certaintly not paying £100 - £150 for it. and i'm not too interested in move or wii either. and those are cheaper, so i dont see people who are interested in motion control paying money for natal when its likely they already have a wii, or they can buy a wii for around that price. especailly if theres a wii price cut and nintendo decide to cut their price to less than that of natal.

i personally hope it bombs straight away, because as a core gamer i'd really hate for the HD gaming industry to start focusing on kiddy like games that come out all the time for the wii. its fair enough for people who want this, but i dont see the core gamer picking this up.

So you don't think the 'kiddy' games on Wii has anything to do with the stereotypical Nintendo demographic?  Its all about the interface?  Really?

And you really don't think that MS has any core games planned for 'Natal'?  I mean, they do have 40 million consoles out there with a huge core gaming demographic.  Does it really make sense for that demo to be completely ignored by MS?  Is there a precedent from them out there that you are basing this on?

Yeah i can see where your coming from, but theres nothing from M$ at the moment to suggest that natal is targetted at the core gamer. the only thing we've seen is casual games and mostly family based entertainment. theres no precendent for us to think there targetting outside this market. considering that games like Dead Space Extraction, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles and Cursed Mountain havent dont well on the wii, i dont think M$ are targetting the core gamer with natal.

the interface dosent seem to do anything drastically different from the wii or move except for voice recognition and gesture control. so i dont see people spending £100- £150 when they can get a wii for that price.

PsicloneX said:,i was playing super punch-out on wii last night and i noticed something strange, you have the wiimote for punching and the nun-chuk for movement hmmm does anyone else see what is wrong with that?you need 2 hands in boxing in real life.

only oneside of my body was being worked out my right as i am right handed now on natal and also move you will use both hands as it should be,but the weakness of move here is that you have to buy another move to get the 2hands and also for mutiplayer games but with natal you already come with all you need your body.the only issue i have with natal is the fact that i will be without force feedback, but i am confident that some gamemakers will bundle their games with some sort of device, for boxing,golf,ect.ect.

In Punch-out your right hand(wiimote) controls your right punch, and your left hand(nunchuk) controls your left punch.  The stick on the nunchuk is used for dodging punches.

I mean the expectations of people who have never used motion control gaming before. Nintendo made it seem like the Wii was 1:1, but it's not, even with MotionPlus, it's not always perfect. I'm worried that Microsoft is making Natal seem better than it is.

I suppose a 1:1 response would explain the hefty price tag, half of their show is dedicated to natal, so it stands to reason that have a lot to show for it, its just whether or not it will be good.
