Forums - Sales Discussion - Will there be Move/Natal Sales tracking?

Several of you mentioned move games however the problem is that only shows part of the picture! some hardcore gamers may not buy the casual move only games and go for the move/dualshock games such as socom or any other upcoming games that support move. I'm not sure if natal will be doing the same thing where some games can support both but like i said JUST move (natal possibly) exclusive games dont paint a full enough picture!

Nope. If packaged like Wii Play/Wii Fit it would partially get tracked, but that's the difference. Nintendo sold 'Wii Fit', not the balance board. Because they recognized that the software would sell the hardware. I don't think MS or Sony will see that distinction.

Agreed.  And it'll be to their detriment, they still haven't figured out exactly why Nintendo's utterly dominated this generation it seems.

I don't think VGChartz will/should really track them weekly. Maybe a monthly update would be nice but for the most part there will probably be tracking via bundle packs. If a game comes with Natal/Move, those will count for the sales of the game, which is the sales of the peripheral. Look at Wii Play for an example.

Your picture with the 3 controllers togethers just makes me wonder why microsoft have built such a bulky machine AGAIN! It's looks alone will make it fail with everybody but the usual 360 "hardcore" and even then most of them will see it as a novelty

Will there be? I doubt it. We don't track the Balance Board, and I don't expect that we'll track anything except for consoles themselves.

That would be a great idea. I am pretty sure Sony or Microsoft would brag if they are winning so we would probably know who was in the lead.

I hope not. I'm expecting both to fail.

wouldnt you like to know that your right though?

The sales of games which use the motion devices exclusively should give a decent idea of how the peripherals are fairing.

I survived the Apocalyps3

I suspect both formats will come bundled with software. if they are bundled then VGChartz will be tracking them. Just look at WiiSports VGChartz tracks that game despite it being bundled with every Wii. So if a single game gets bundled with every Move and Natal then we could see tracking.

I'm personally interested in Natal's sales, but Move multiple controllers could be sold in each household so it wouldn't indicate how many consumers have adopted the platform. If VGChartz did track peripheral sales then Natal is the one I'd keep my eye on. I'm interested how many households will adopt the new technology!
