Will Obama be re-elected in 2012?

Yes 111 37.00%

No 98 32.67%

Too early to call 79 26.33%

I don't know 12 4.00%

Total:300

I do not think he will. I kind of think it is just going to be downhill for dems for awhile. I also do not think the universal health care will pan out how he or any one planned and will probably backfire.

It really depends on who the GOP runs.

If things go the way they are - and Obama stays a wimpy-fisted Jimmy Carter clone, he will be a one-termer. If he becomes more Clintonesque, then he may have a good chance.

Back to my first statement - it really depends on who the GOP fields. With Ron Paul or Gary Johnson...I think they can win. They won't win, however, with a Palin or Romney.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Why is everyone so cynical when they talk about him. Just last year this time people still loved him. And unlike Bush, who got re-elected, I fail to see in glaring flaws in what he has done so far...

Could someone explain? (Im not American BTW)

Lets see:

  • Promised a ticket of 'hope' and 'change', despite keeping us in 2 unpopular wars, and a lot of Bush-era policies.
  • Was supposed to be a 'uniter' and bi-partisan, despite pushing through some glaringly one-sided .
  • Has totally botched economic recovery with a poorly planned bailout.
  • Currently botching the oil disaster - he's sat back, and waited for it to get worse and worse, spouting rhetoric with no actions.
  • Has done nothing of major positive worth since his election a year and a half. America is, for the most part, worse off now than when he was elected.
  • Fought for a very poor health care bill, instead of focusing on the economy.

That would sum most of it up.

Way to early to call.  Just like always though, people i know voted for him now bitch about him.  It sickens me how fast this country turns on our presidents.

Romney would be their best bet out of that field. As much noise as Libertarianism is making now, ultimately their beliefs are still unacceptable, point blank. Palin is a mainstream liability, even if she's good at firing the fringes, which could lead to an interesting primary run. Romney's got that middle-of-the-road ability that he would have the best chance, especially given his Massachusetts past.

I think that if the Republicans upset this midterm, they're going to look a lot worse in 2012, because by then the romance of a 2nd contract with America will have expired when it fails just like the first did. Which isn't to say that it's a fundamentally bad platform, but its trying to tamper with things that are too set in the American psyche. If the Republicans get their chance and come up short, the winds will switch back again.

Ultimately it'll come down to a weak candidate from the Republicans. They won't be able to nab the center (at least this time), which Obama has proven quite adept at.

Too early to tell, but I have my doubts about him being reelected.

After seeing people's replies it just shows how little people know about politics.. Do i think Obama will win re election? absolutly..  Lets look at it this way.  At this same time in their presidencies, both Reagan and Clinton where at 40% approval ratings. Everyone said they would lose re election big, well what actually happened was both won re election by more votes than their first election!

I saw one poster here compare Obama to carter? lol really?  Obama is the anti carter..  Carter was incompotent, Obama got healthcare reform done, something 7 presidents have tried for the last century, Obama did it.  Obama has turned around this economy. Jobs ar growing again, GDP is growing again, consumer confidence is back up and things are looking up for the better.

Obama has held at a very steady 48% approval rating for the last 6 months, what that shows is Obama has a very strong base of support.  All Obama is doing is keeping his campaign promises, nothing more nothing less. Lets go through them shall we.  Healthcare reform done, Dont Ask Dont tell on the way to being repealed, he sent more troops to afghanistan, the Iraq war is still ending in 2 months, the economy is roaring, financial reform is expected to be passed by July 4th and he ordered the closing of GITMO.

He talked about ALL these things on the campaign trail.  Also the GOP doesnt have ANYONE worth running.. Sarah Palin? lol i needed a good joke..  Rand Paul/Ron Paul, the same ones that want to repeal civil rights?  yea right.   The bottom line is, YES Obama will win re election by a landslide.  Id be willing to bet money on it

Obama will most likely be reelected, most times when we switch parties is if a economic decline begins. Since we are in the middle of one he should be reelected without too much problems

I personally have doubts about it.  I myself will continue to defend him; it annoys me that a leader of his calibur had to inherit this country's growing problems.  So long as he doesn't lose out to Romney, I'm fine.

I think it will be another Bush situation.

Most people would rather vote for someone else, but the alternatives will be even more distasteful.
