I hate to say it, but I'm just about completely unhappy with the new concept and layout. (Yeah, I haven't posted on the forums much, but have read the site for years.)
For my two cents, what happened here is the new hub and site concept overcompensates. It is nonsensically cluttered and arranged. The white and grey color scheme on the vgchartz section makes all fields blend together; it's confusing to the eye. Having the search bar be a nearly invisible field (due to blending) lost in the stack of windows, as opposed to just having a search bar at the top corner of the site. The old layout was dense, yes, but it wasn't truly confusing - and more importantly, once you visited a few times it allowed the viewer to take in a huge amount of information very quickly.
Ironically I began coming to VGChartz precisely so I could see a lot at a glance instead of having to click around and dig through multiple sites. For my own purposes, VGChartz has just defeated all of its own best features - and what set it apart from other websites. Most sites also overcompensate - they try to create multiple domains, sub-sites, and a greater sense of authority over each subject with overblown presentation. The old layout style was really pretty charming. This new stuff now is very generic; like every other industry rag and major gaming website.
If that actually brings in more users for you, well, so be it. But now I may as well just read a forum like NeoGAF where most everything ends up on one page. (I'd actually used NeoGAF for news before; VGChartz had news just as fast but a ton of other useful or interesting info and topics on the main page.)
