I think this WC shows that attacking football wins, all the nations that reached semis priorize attack over defense, sure, Spain and Germany might be more "flashy" to the eyes, but all 4 teams produced some excellent displays and had their strongest link in the attack. If anything, that's the conclusion I get from this WC, because at the same time you can say that those three countries are the only good thing of european football because all the other nations of the continent sucked big time.

I heard that the CONCACAF asked for more spots....are they mad? They've shown that the only sides they have are USA and Mexico, they're lucky they have one and a half more places in addition to the eternal two, they should forfeit those out of respect to football

Europe and South America should be the only continents gaining sides. From Europe I thought there could have been a few extras. Russia Croatia Sweden and Turkey were big sides to miss out

Well, it's assured that a WC with 16-17 or so European, 7-8 South American, and the remaining 8 for the rest of the world (think USA, Mexico, Japan, SKorea, Ghana, Côte D'Ivoire and maybe one more for each Asia and Africa) would be way more competitive and exciting than this where you have countries that aren't at a WC level like Honduras, North Korea and Algeria

About the European dominance thing, I mostly agree with Zexen's explanation. I was one of those who claimed that it would be epic if four south american countries would reach the semifinals and only one did, so I´m kind of sad about it.

I'm backing Holland more out of hope than expectation

Most of the players are Premier League based, the Spain team is more or less Barcelona (6/11) (3/11 Real Madrid) Pretty much proves why they are the favourites. Also I'm pissed off with Spain for complaining about Howard Webb. They are unhappy at how he officiated when they lost to Switzerland, and think that he shouldn't referee their games because of the rivalry between La Liga and the Premiership! To me they are just getting excuses prepared just incase they lose
