Hi everyone, dropping in. I still lurk from time to time.

I just wanted to re-post this rant I made in another thread. I think it accurately summarizes many of the things wrong with the site, and it does it in my typical nerd rage style. I still read it sometimes and find myself agreeing with myself even now. A couple of weeks ago I talked to Rubang on AIM, and he also agreed that the site is still as much of a mess as it was with 2.0 (perhaps more so). That's progress.

I've also been monitoring this site's traffic rank with Alexa (it's just a fun thing to do with a lot of sites), and I've noticed that Vgchartz's traffic rank is at an all time low (#8,439). Wasn't this site at one point approaching the top 5,000 sites in the world in traffic rank? 

But I think all of that can be summarized in the rant I made. Whatever. Here's the read:

Firstly, 2.0 was awesome, so don't even go there >_>

The speed: It doesn't really run all that slowly for me. Definitely faster than 2.0

The lack of focus on sales: There are some two admins in charge of sales data. The rest concern themselves with other areas of the site. There are some thirty contributors, who don't write sales articles at all. Unfortunately (if you look at it that way), this isn't a sales site any more. And if you expand things further, there's been quite a bit of new stuff recently. The VGC IM. Hot Topics. Quote Colouring. Granted, 2/3 of those aren't actually on the site at the moment.

The poll thing was probably an oversight. There was no deliberate malice in there. It would be pretty stressful to design a new website in a few months and have half the site despise it, all while still collecting sales data and pre-order data and still updating frequently and promptly.

What I'm trying to say is that it will take time to bring the new site up to par, and as well as that, the site is expanding (if not in audience, then in areas covered) and so it will feel less personalised, and that's never a good thing. I can understand if you don't want to be on the staff, but please come back to posting on the forums. With the influx of new members, we need some of the fantastic posters of old.

So all this time all the fangirls writing fanfiction about SephirothxAeris/Yuffie/Tifa/etc. and posting them online are actually men?? :O  And no I'm not trashleg.

That was a good read and I agree with you 100%. I've had a few rants a while back as well and know how you feel. Sad to see you go, but I can't really blame you. The only reason I am sticking around is because it is the best place to play "Mafia" that I know of. Trying to change that though.

And ioi can say we will get used to it all he wants, the fact is, having 4 separate sites when you only need 1 is not something people will want to get used to, and they will continue to complain until it is changed or just leave. I just hope he realizes this before he falls further and further down in site traffic rank. Well, I guess I could care less now anyways. Maybe this will teach him that when half your site is complaining it is for a reason and not just an initial reaction.

It is things like that which annoy me. Listen to your community ioi! And when you update to 4.0, hopefully soon launch it with its final version, not something that is 80%~ complete. And I feel sorry for Talonman having to clean up your mess, since it sounds like he didn't really have much to do with 3.0...

Hah. While I totally agree with this, ioi would never do that. And it's his good right, too. It's his site, and he can do whatever he wants. He doesn't care much for the community, and it annoys me as well, but what can you do?

Still trying to figure out the site after a year without access to VGC, but I'm extremely happy that it has returned to black text on white background!

Is it just me or has the list of topics that were once on the gamrconnect button gone? You would click on it and it brought up the list of recently posted topics. Now it brings me to a stupid wall of activity that I don't care about!

@Wagram: It's not just you. The Hot Topics have disappeared again it seems, but I hope they'll be back soon.
